We hunted out this pub on a wet and nasty Boxing Day. It is tucked away in a narrow street above the beautiful Dartmouth creek. 14th century pub, lovely landlord and local crowd, super beer, fish and chips - just perfect! We now live in the Loire Valley and it is only places like this which could make us regret... More

Eat in this wonderful Village pub on a regular basis, food is always superb, if you want something special have the fresh fish this will change daily as it is fresh!! Order a Fruits de Mare well in advance and boy will you be impressed. And yes you may have to wait a while before you are served but that's... More

we were staying in dartmouth and went accross on the ferry as foot passengers (£1.50 each, each way, took about 1 minute). pub is next to main church and has the lovely charm of a pub that remains the way it has been for many years and hasn't been mucked about with. beer nice, didn't eat as were here early... Fine atmosphere, very good Food and very nice people. This place is so lovely that we decide to come here again next year. It is a must because we have a very nice relationship to some guests who come always into the Ship-Inn. Thank you for so many nice hours in your Pub and very good fresh Food!

Actually it was brilliant dab that I enjoyed.....though a companion said the brill was really "brilliant"! Another night we enjoyed the "bush conger" (rabbit) ....really tasty. Starters we enjoyed included scallops with hogs pudding, monkfish gougons and whitebait served as they should be (lightly floured and fried quickly - not encased in breadcrumb This is a traditional pub with good... We were recommended to try here as the fish dishes were good. We were a group of 6 and had a varied selection of dishes.....all very good. Service was friendly and helpful. Good value and quality. Only small gripe would be to recommend that the Landlord takes a quieter role and doesn't moan at his staff in front of clients... More

What a charming old pub. The staff and landlord are all very friendly. Yes the service in the restaurant is sometimes a little slow but who cares when you're on holiday. I do agree with a previous comment that a side plate for the bread rolls should be provided but other than that I thought the service was ok. We... More

A frequent visitor to the ship, but not a local, I always find the service, food and, beer excellent. The pub itself is a typical traditional local, usually busy and Colin has team look after you well.

Having visited solely on the entry in the Good Beer Guide, we were not disappointed as this is a wonderful pub. The landlord was knowledgeable and friendly and the pub itself is in a wonderful location. There were 5 real ales on, all were sampled and all were very good. A lovely pub and one I will be keen to... More

Went for a special occasion family meal. The service was very poor in the restaurant part and we were being handed bread and butter without any side plates or serviettes. The main course was very disappointing, the steaks we had were supposed to be local high quality produce which was definitely not the case, as it was impossible to chew!... More
