The happiest Sunday you could ever spend? Obviously the lobster is delicious but this place delivers far more. Lovely staff who are full of energy and a jazz band that can’t stop you from smiling! Love it!

We were so looking forward to our lobster. We ordered 2 medium ones with rice but when the dishes arrived there was no rice - just French fries. We were told the restaurant had run out of rice which is something we have never experienced...anywhere. A lot of the lobster was tough, chewy and overcooked. There was a couple sitting at a table beside us and when they got their lobsters served we heard them saying exactly the same thing. Our starters of lobster spring rolls and kingfish pate were very good but we will never come back here after our dreadful experience of the lobsters.More
Plenty of mixed reviews on here so maybe they do have good days. Ours was not one of them. First off we’d hoped to have a pre dinner drink while we looked at the menu and wine list. It was not to be. The waitress...who said she’d be back to take our drinks order suddenly needed to know drinks, food and wine. So the wine arrived with the G&T and the starters were just behind. To be fair the starters were decent but then came the main event. I think I will be sending them a meat thermometer because our lobster was seriously over cooked - tough and chewy. Note to Chef - Insert thermometer in the underside of the tail closest to the body. The internal temperature should read about 135-140 degrees F. Your welcome. As an aside, the people at the next table had the same problem and asked to see the manager ( who deigned to appear once they’d settled their bill ). As a parting shot our bill contained a desert which we hadn’t had so obviously we queried it. Enter the surly waitress. This is not an inexpensive place to eat. The setting is lovely but our £70 lobsters were awful. Half of it left on the plate with no enquiry as to why or a “how’s your meal” in the passing. To be honest we should have sent it back but we just wanted to get out. To add insult to injury, we had to put up with deafening “music” from next door ( Copacabana? ) and a rather insipid jazz quartet. We have subsequently been told by a local that pre-Covid this was a great place to eat but then something changed. It needs to change back again.More
The restaurant is right on the beach and a few minutes drive from the port. Watch out for the taxi rip-off where you might be asked to pay 40 USD for a taxi from the port ( the journey is a short 10USD hop). The...staff are friendly, attentive and all smartly dressed. The decor is up-market and the toilets clean. There is a reasonable wine list, but a bit expensive. We had conch chowder - very tasty and conch samosas = decent portion, very nice but the inside of the pastry wasn’t fully cooked. We shared a large lobster which was just enough, supplemented by a few fries. There was a band playing in the background, very nice. Pity the place wasn’t a bit busier. A great experience, but a bit expensive. Tip: the official exchange from EC dollars to USD is 2.7 and of you pay cash they use 2, do it’s more economic to pay by card do long as you can do do without incurring card charges.More
Had great food, excellent service and the live band was a mini concert. Will definitely go again!!!!
Just the best lobster ever and the best staff! And if you’re not a lobster fan, then just go there for the chips! Insanely good
Had lunch here after a tour and was really pleased with everything albeit a little pricy. Service was excellent and location great - we chose to eat inside as it was far too hot for outside, beach, dining. We had a couple of appetisers and...lobster each and came to c.£110 per head including beers and cocktails; as I say a little “punchy” for beach side dining however, you have to remember that this is a main tourist spot. Excellent food and quality and great service - only thing to let it down is prices.More
What a fantastic place Lobster Alive is!!! We’ve had two days in Barbados on our cruise and obviously wanted some beach time on Carlisle Bay. We saw Lobster Alive yesterday and decided to come here today - and what a great find it was. The...whole team made us feel so welcome. Kylie welcomed us, told us the drill and within minutes we were settled in. The cost is $5USD each for a sun bed and large umbrella - each purchase also gets you a free welcome drink - which was most welcome. The beach is naturally so beautiful and the water so clean, clear and turquoise- my ideal Caribbean beach. Thanks to Kylie and Mike (for the best virgin pina colada ever) and the whole team. We will see you next year when we do the next transatlantic cruise - unless we come for two weeks…More
We had been recommended to go and we were very excited. Firstly the service was excellent. The staff are so friendly, efficient and welcoming….. but…. Both of my daughters were very ill having had the Mediterranean lobster pasta, they were the only two of our...party of four that had that choice. I rang the restaurant to let them know that both my daughters had vomited and the best they could do was an apology. I had the lobster Thermidor which was very good. My husband had the tomato lobster pasta. Im all we were not at all impressed.More
Place been upgraded as a building but new Lady in control has left Menus unchanged, taken over Beach Loungers from the lovely Terry and now offers a terrible Fruit Punch with Minimal Rum as a free drink. Prices raised too high Bd$ 160 fir a...small Lobster and a glass of Rose was Bd$32 That’s US$ 100 for this two items , crazy. We been going here 15 years but not anymore at these prices, better places now on Carlyle Beach. Sad writing this review as Staff are excellent, hope owners pay attention and price accordingly and add more things to Menu and food for the Beach.More
SO SO disapointed with lobster alive, we have been to Barbados 10 times, we had been recommended by so many people ! and finally to decided to afford it as it was my 70th birthday and our 50th wedding anniversary the lobster was so dry...my daughter and I could not cut it up to eat it. We wanted lobster and boy did we get lobster. HUGE portions of Thermidor. Service was with a smile and very quick. Great atmosphere on the beach with umbrellas overhead in case of rain. This restaurant will not disappoint what ever the occasion.
Had the most amazing lunch. As you would expect the lobster is first class! The service is informal but really friendly. The jazz band on a Sunday is superb. Highly recommend this Barbados institution!
Nice place to chill and the food is great , I especially like the fresh lobster it was fantastic and I like the Idea you can swim
