Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had the shredded beef in a tomato base with rice/black beans and plantains. Everything was excellent. Pressure cooking is very popular in Cuban cooking and the beef had clearly been prepared that way. Tender with a wonderful deep flavor. Our server was very attentive. Great...live music also.More

This is a traditional Cuban food restaurant that gives good value for money and a real mix of tourists and Cuban people. Don't expect the fancy plates and pristine presentation. What you do get is excellent ( and I do mean excellent!!!) service from waiters...who want to help and food that is honest. I had a great tasting Ropa Vieja along with a generous mojito. The entertainment of music and salsa was all we needed for a great night out. We stayed for hours after eating and the staff. We're happy to make sure we got a safe taxi back to our hotel. A great night out.More

A scheduled lunch stop in old Havana. Indoor and outdoor seating. I had their chicken dish which was good. Service was fine considering we were part of a tour group.

La Mina in Plaza de Armas, Havana Vieja is a delightful place to spend a few hours of any evening. Partly because of the venue that is a truly lovely square, but also because of the combination of usually friendly and attentive staff, a really...good group of musicians, reasonable prices and seafood that is good for Cuba (food in Cuba is not a USP). It is really relaxing to spend some time over a repast here.More

We where here as a group of 5 for lunch. Unlike many other restaurants in the Obispo street this place was quite full and there was no one pooling on my sleeves to get me in. We hat to wait for the table for 4-5...minutes. Service was good, friendly and fast. The food was delicious (we took the advice of the friendly waitress and ordered some of the specials). This is a real good place to have lunch/dinner in a touristy and yet Cuban way :) Right next to the terrace there was a band playing some nice Cuban music (and they where also not pushy about the CDs that they where selling). All-together: good service, good food, good entertainment, perfect locationMore

Had a very relaxing lunch in their outdoor seating. Took the recommendation of the waitress who was very friendly and informative. Our lunch was tasty, authentic and good portions. There was a band playing while we were eating which made our visit even more pleasurable.

Great for people watching and music. Food was bad, service by the big waiter was grumpy at best, I managed to get 1 begrudged smile from him. We entered the restaurant with smiles and excitement and left feeling very low, but then laughed at the...worst service ever received hahaha , cheer up La MinaMore

This place with tables outside in the adjacent Plaza de Armas is a great spot and has some inconsistent service, ranging from very good to very bad. The food is extremely expensive, where a half a fist portion of shredded beef (ropa vieja) costs $12...and is not that good, actually. Other items on the menu range from $7.50 to $15. The cocktails are okay, and mojito comes in a bit larger glasses than most cafes and bars in Cuba would serve you.More

This popular bar and restaurant was once an orphanage and school in the 17th century, built on the southwest corner, of the busy Plaza de Armas it has seen many changes take place here. The restaurant is not renowned for its food, so we had...a couple of icy cold adult beverages and a rest from the sunshine. La Mina kind of rambles all over the place, with a sweet shop here and an ice cream area there, the bar area has a nice black and white chequered floor and the location outside is fantastic, the whole area is covered with tourists due to the popularity of the Plaza Armas and its park Cespedes in the center. There is a white marble statue of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes surrounded by royal palms in its center, the originally statue here was of the Spanish King Fernando VII, but he has been moved to the west side of the Plaze near the Palace of the Capitanes Generales. If you must eat its pretty basic fish, chicken or pork. Tip: Forget the menu just ask what they have available today, that way you will not be disappointed.More

Visited La Mina our first night in Havana after a short walking tour for our trip leader to show us the neighborhood. A group of us (women) decided to stay and have drinks. Nice place to sit outside on the square and relax; mojitos 3...CUC. Great waiter, Marlon (as in Brando he said). Next day we were surprised to find ourselves back for lunch after walking tour. Usual Cuban meal, choice of meat with sides of rice, beans. Food average, service and atmosphere very good. Our last free evening same group of women walked back down here, sat outside and had drinks and appetizers. Good lobster chunks! We felt very safe walking from here to our casa late at nite. Lots of people socialing and police presence.More

This was an average dinner and was a little disappointed in the food, but the fact that I was eating dinner in Havana really made up for it. The drinks were really good and we enjoyed the evening air sitting ourside listening to the music....While I would probably look for some place else to eat if we get the chance to return to Cuba, it was still an enjoyable evening.More

La Mina was not only a great culinary experience for us, family of 14, but also shockingly an honest venue to lose a pair of designer sunglasses and go back the next day to find that they were holding them in case I returned!! Even...our local tourist guide was shocked. La Mina offers a beautiful setting, great live music, amazing food and drinks along with an extensive wine list which we had a hard time finding in local restaurants. It turned into a memorable experience as it was culminated with the return of my sunglasses! Gracias a todos!More
