Recommend by a guy at our hotel. Was pretty busy and sat outside. Had the Chorizo appetizer and was good. We got the Grouper and steak plantains. The grouper was ok but the steak was delicious. A couple local came by to play guitar and was a nice ending to a good meal. The waiter was friendly and good on... More

I had lunch and dinner in this fairly small restaurant. Both times I chose to stay in the air conditioned interior, though there is shaded, outoor seating. I had "mofongo relleno" both times, choosing yuca/pork for lunch and green plantain/shrimp in red sauce for supper. Both were wonderful. Cuban coffe (lunch) and the chocolate flan (supper) were both perfect ways... More

The Cafe Puerto Rico is across from a beautiful square in a historic building in Old San Juan. It is known for the Mofongo which is why I decided to try this place after a cruise. Am Spending a couple of extra days in Old San Juan at the nearby Sheraton Hotel. Mofongo is a traditional Puerto Rican dish which... More

The restaurant was packed but I was seated quickly. Had a great meal that tasted authentic and delicious. I think I might just have to return tomorrow for another wonderful meal.

The food here was very authentic which was my goal for my visit. The service was outstanding and a band came in and played midway through our meal. The only downside is the chicken in the gumbo was overcooked. Everything else was excellent.

After 3 days onboard the cruise ship we wanted to eat something different and drink local beer without 18% ship surcharge. I had the conch and my girlfriend had the mofongo. Everything was great, including the service. You know it is good when locals eat there.

We were not familiar with Puerto Rican food; however Omar walked us through a great explanation and made some recommendations. His suggestions for an appetizer and mains were spot on for a very satisfying meal. My wife had a chicken mofongo with garlic chicken which she really enjoyed. I had the steak mofongo in a yucca base which had wonderful... More

We were searching for a genuine but inexpensive Puerto Rican dining experience, and we had it here. We had lunch. We ordered plantain soup with fried plantain sides as a starter but it was so generous it could have been our main meal. It was delicious. We followed it with another local dish which comprised meat (we chose pork), rice,... More

My husband and I came to old San Juan to taste the authentic flavors of Puerto Rico BUT this was the worst on our trip. The foods were super bland... nothing like authentic Puerto Rican food. The service was also bland. I would never go to this place again. It's for tourist who don't know any better. This is not... More
