HMF* After a average lunch at Mayagüez we need something sweet and ask for a place. Locals seems to love this place... so lets try it. I will said: Worst "helado" ever. We try our named versions: Watery Coconut (no so sweet) & Muddy Chocolate Brownie (granulated) The Only Good are the Prices, thats the reason probably locals like it.... More

I remember eating Rex Cream from the time I was a grade-schooler at the "Inmaculada" across the street. We MUST stop by for ice cream everytime we visit PR. They have the absolute BEST ice cream in the most amazing flavors and CHEAP!!!! Our favorites include coco(nut), parcha (passion fruit), and tamarind(o).

It is local institutuon. Tipical flavors. Have to try the corn icecream sprinkle with cinnamon or guanabana (soursoup). Will not be disappointed.

Small place at a corner of the Plaza Colon to complete your outing. They serve different flavors like coconut, pineapple and others, but you have to ask for tasting the corn one with cinnamon.

This is a must when visiting the West. Puertorican families have visited Rex Cream for generations, and it still is a tradition when you are at Plaza Colón. Their flavors are original and delicious (corn with cinnamon, watermelon, key lime pie, soursop, coconut, tamarindo and many more). I came here with European friends who said it rivaled the best gelato... More

People doesn't know they actually have 2 parlors in downtown Mayagüez, all nearby the plaza. The first one is nearby the city town hall and has a modern façade, and the second one, which is behind the building to the left of the plaza, looks like it's been forever: a bit old, yes, but awesome nonetheless. So, if you see... More

There are 2 locations downtown. They offer a wide variety of local flavors along with the traditional vanilla/chocolate. You definitely will not be bored. Try the popular corn ice cream and make sure they sprinkle cinnamon, it's awesome!!

To start, there is always a bum asking for money outside the door. the attendants never smile to the customers, very grumpy and bad dressed. The ice cream is good but a little expensive but what it is.
