My wife and I have been visiting Caffi Soar for the best part of a year.We call in at least once a week after doing our grocery shopping .We never fail to receive a warm welcome from Jamie and the rest of the team. Jamie is always chatty and friendly.At each visit we usually have sandwiches,coffee and soft drinks.Everything is always brought to the table promptly ,we never have to wait.Caffi Soar is a welcoming and safe haven in these extaordinary times we are living in at present.We look forward to many more visits.

A welcoming environment, and very tasty refreshments. I will make sure I visit here whenever I am in Merthyr. I did not have time to browse the bookshop or attend a performance, but hope to another time. Diolch o galon i bawb!

This cafe is a hidden gem and it’s a pity that more people didn’t utilise the facility. The cafe is open to the general public and there is a variety of meals to chose from as well as coffees teas and snacks.

I visited here for the first time today and I was really impressed. The atmosphere was very friendly and the service was excellent. My lunch was served quickly, was well presented and tasted really good. I finished off with a home made Welsh cake which was every bit as good as my grandmother used to make! I will definitely be going back again.

A very welcoming cosy cafe where you can practice your welsh skills.
Staff are very accommodating, friendly and polite.
Food is cooked fresh on premises and is lovely with some lovely treats like warm chocolate brownie with ice cream. Wide range of coffees and healthy meals. They also do kids meal deal!
They also have a welsh bookshop onsite which is very charming!
Defo need to visit when in Merthyr! We go to Merthyr just to visit the cafe and the amazing staff.
One thing to note - they don’t accept cards so take cash.

Having discovered this amazing jewel in Merthyr town centre while working near by I had to choose it for my farewell party when I left my job. All my work colleagues were over the moon at the food and the service. There was an additional treat of live music session during our time there. Since leaving my job I have been back to visit the town and of course I headed straight back to Caffi Soar. Great food, great service & great value for money.

A lovely place to meet for food or just a coffee and a chat. Everyone made to feel welcome, excellent place to practice Welsh if you are a learner. Jamie always ready to help in anyway he can. Food excellent and all freshly prepared, pice a maen (welsh cakes) are delicious and too moreish for words. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the Merthyr area. Dai iawn Jamie!

Friendly place where a warm welcome awaits, café serves good coffee and I can't resist the very good home-made Welsh cakes. Lots of Welsh to be heard being spoken by staff, visitors and learners who meet up for a chat and/or a class. Check it out! Caroline

Arranged to meet someone in Merthyr and this cafe was their suggestion. It is a bit tucked away though, but looking in the right direction it becomes obvious. I was pleasantly surprised with very nice coffee being served inside.
Reasonably priced plentiful car parking outside to the rear. The cafe is part of the theatre Soar - Canolfan a Theatr Soar and if getting there by car can be approached to the very rear of the Castle Street Car Park in Merthyr.
