Went here for lunch absolutely amazing food! I usually struggle to find one thing on the menu but here I was struggling to decide between 5 meals! I eventually decided on the beef madras from the specials board which was absolutely lovely. My husband had...the home made faggots which he said were the best he’s ever had! Also the homemade carrot and corriander soup for starter was really really good! Also good choice of lager and beers. Will be visiting again! Staff very friendly and informative of the menu as well as quick service.More
Another fab meal at The Horseshoe! Faggots and peas were amazing - hubby had roast lamb which actually tasted like lamb! Generous portions - warm welcome. Fantastic!
Stumbled on this pub on our way to Abergavenny. Great value for money and delicious, plentiful food. My other half had moules frites with a good chunk of ciabatta. The frites were the best he’d ever had. They were chunky and reminded him of roast...potatoes. I had a ploughman’s which I just couldn’t finish. It’s dog friendly too. Very professional staff. We will be back.More
Was a last minute booking. Hospitable and friendly staff. Menu varied from the pub classics to more Al a carte meals which we went for. Fantastic crispy belly pork with cider gravy for me and my husband had chicken stuffed with spinach and cream cheese...wrapped in bacon with a cranberry gravy. All desserts sounded gorgeous and were homemade. Add this pub to your list for places to try. We'll definitely visit againMore
It was a wonderful happenstance. We were staying less than half a mile away from the pub, I called in to take a look on the way back to Ty-Cooke (lovely little certified location for caravans) and had a gander at the menu. I started...chatting with the clientele who were very friendly and spoke highly of the pie and pint night on Wednesdays. On the strength of this, I booked a table for two, and I'm so glad I did. They had a good selection of beers and wines, so the better half and I were happy. I chose from the specials board and J from the menu. My beef bourguignon was superb, as was the bacon wrapped chicken stuffed with spinach and cream cheese, even the veg was outstanding, especially the red cabbage. Sadly, I was unable to finish it all as the portions were too generous for me, and I wanted to leave space for desert. The creme brulee with a cookie was truly excellent, as was the blackberry cheesecake, just how we both liked it. Not sweet but perfectly balanced with the fruit. We will be back to this location for a stay, and the food here is a major part of that decision. We had no right to expect such exemplary food without doing our research first, and it blew us away, and it wasn't expensive either. If you are in driving distance, you must give it a try, I can guarantee you will waddle away happy.More
Food was very nice and good value (pub food at it's best I would say). Friendly professional service and a nice view from the tables outside. Would certainly recommend.
Couldn't fault the service or food! Great vegan and vegetarian options. Large portions and very reasonable prices.
Quick visit for Sunday lunch with my wife, as ever the roast lamb dinner, washed down with a new Rose wine was absolutely to die for, lamb was succulent and tender, the veg was freshly cooked and perfect, the Yorkshire pudding added was lovely. Deserts...were just as nice and the tropical bread and butter pudding was stunning Front of house run by Simon was faultless and the kitchens run by Steve turn out great food Top food and service as everMore
Absolutely lovely. What an unexpected surprise! Whilst on a SW England trip we sort of gazed at the map and saw how close we were to Wales, so we just sort of crossed the bridge from Bristol and hubby found this place in an app,...In exchange for dinner you get to stay the night with your rv. We’re here with a 7 meter camper and the road coming into this place, yeah…. (Croes y pant lane)… let’s say it’s not exactly suitable for a large vehicle. I held my breath so much I almost forgot how to breathe. We celebrated our delight in arriving safe and sound with a victory meal at the Horseshoe Inn. And they deliveres!! Loads of choice, great vegetarian options as well, I had some sort of cashew/cranberry type thing that was very tasty and hubby was really happy with whatever animal he had next to his veggies and gravy, it was really very nice. Great service too! I cannot understand how something so nice can exist in such a rural place but we’d be tempted to stay here the whole week. Truthfully, that might also be because we’re not sure if the road we’ll be taking out of here will be any better than the road we took in. So wish us luck.More
Great Sunday lunch Accommodated us at last minute Staff were great and friendly really great country pub that I would highly recommend
Monday lunch time. Staff unsmiling, bordering on surly. Food - 2 meals, the chicken wrapped in bacon was good as was the cod with tarragon sauce. Two other meals, both rump steak were awful, the steaks were tougher than old boots and one was undercooked...(ordered as medium rare but ‘cooked’ almost rare). On politely requesting replacement steaks, we were told the chef would cook the steak further, which would not make it any more tender, but not replace. On requesting a replacement meal (something different) we were told bluntly that it would have to be paid for in full ie the steaks would be forfeited. Never known such bad customer service, we paid for 4 meals but could eat only two. Come again ? no way.More
We popped in on the off chance on a Tuesday evening. We were welcomed warmly by the staff and given a table. Service of staff was really polite and friendly. Menu selection is really good. Food was lovely, hot and served quickly. Would recommend and...will definitely call againMore
Love the pub, lovely landlord, friendly locals but awful piped 1980s music stuttering from speakers spoils outside sitting. Just want to heat the birdsong through one of the most beautiful of valleys on a summers eve :(
An excellent meal and a great welcome. Had the chicken breast wrapped in bacon and my husband had the belly pork. Quality food and very tasty. Plenty of choice from the main menu and a Sunday roast. Portions were sizeable and service was excellent. Very...friendly and efficient. Great pint of real ale and peroni, plenty of choice at the bar. Restaurant was clean, spacious, well laid out and well presented. The bar is perfect if you have a dog. The country setting is a delight and a great location for a country walk before or after your meal. Would recommend a visit!More
