Honeslty stopped here for a meal after a busy day out not really knowing what to expect as we don't know the area. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!! The food was exceptional, to be honest it's the best meal I've had in a long time and I feel like I've robbed them for what they charge. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection, there chef has the most essential skill in the industry to be able to cook with love! I had the seafood feast which was mouthwatering tasty and cooked to perfection. My partner had the scampi and absolutely loved it and couldn't believe the portion size. Our kids both had a kids burger and my god as my littlest one couldn't finish it all, I tried a bit and as far as burgers go it's the best thing I've ever tasted the only way you could get fresher is if you handled the cow your self! The waiting staff are a credit to the industry, not a single one of them looked out of place or like they didn't want to be there or were just there for a pay check. They were all smiles, pleasant and very erlcoming. There a credit to the business. The owner was welcoming and seemed like she genuinely cared about her guests, she was a lovely women and I wish and hope all the best for her in the future as I myself know how cut throat this industry can be! If we're ever in the area again we will defiently be returning, honestly can't recommend enough! Thank you all for an amazing experience

We enjoyed a family dinner here whilst on holiday. The staff were all extremely friendly and professional and we were highly impressed (and grateful) for the effort they went to to support my husband's dietary needs. I said he had coeliac disease when booking and they had his menu all ready, so he knew what he could and couldn't have and they clearly understood the importance of avoiding gluten. This made such a difference to my husband, so he could relax and enjoy his meal. The setting was lovely, very cosy and inviting. The craft beer was very tasty and the children enjoyed the large range of juices to choose from, including pineapple. The menu had an excellent choice and my turkey meal was absolutely incredible! The children had chicken goujons which were so nice, not like the normal greasy cheap tasting ones you get in so many places. These were clearly good quality chicken and home made. There was a nice range of ice cream flavours to choose from, as well as other puddings. We would highly recommend to other families who appreciate good service and quality food that is well presented. We hope to visit again in the summer months so we can make the most of the river views.

A wonderful meal in a great location with staff that really went out of their way to make our visit a success. We can find it hard to find a suitable venue that works for our family. Our neuro-diverse son struggles if there's too much noise or feels too cornered and we also needed somewhere dog friendly. Having visited here in January and had a very positive experience we decided to give it a go again. We mentioned a need for a quiet table when we booked and when we arrived the staff gave us a choice of a couple of tables and were patient while our son considered the merits of each. Safely seated service was friendly and quick, food arrived beautifully hot and presented and tasted as good as it looked. (We went for a lot of the seafood / fish options!) They even magicked up a bowl of custard for my daughter for dessert to soothe her sore throat and this worked better than any medicine apparently!! So thank you to everyone working on Saturday evening for giving us such a great meal and such a positive experience. Your thoughtfulness and patience (as well as the delicious food) is really appreciated.

We visited here with our friends recommendation from previous visits. Booked in advance with dogs on a cold night, but no problem in or outside as heaters outside previously and shown on website. When we arrived we were outside and asked about the heaters and was told if it was cold we could be seated inside. We ordered drinks but it was very cold so asked to be transferred inside as advised even if we had to wait, waitress came back and said no tables. We asked why no heaters as previous and was told it was due to cost of electricity. As we had drinks we had to stay and were then told that the wait for main meals was at least 45 mins so best to order a starter to not be hungry. It was cold so we paid and left. On the way out, I heard other clients being told to order starters. I think firstly the photos of heaters on the Web site should be removed. This review does not include the food as we did not get any. Secondly a visit to the The GoldenLion at Newport along the main road will show you how eating outside can be a pleasant experience with fantastic food.

The trials of running a business! Let me explain..... We installed heaters outdoors during the pandemic and there they have remained until 2 days ago, when we decided to remove them. 95% of the time there is room to move people who have booked outside onto indoor tables, as we have a large premises. We even have an indoor Cabin on our decking. Over the last couple of weeks, we have watched people turn the heaters on outside, when if they were cold, they only had to ask & come inside. This seemed to us to be a waste of energy. Thinking about this waste of resources and in a desperate attempt to reduce our £3000 per month (!!) electricity bill, we took the heaters on the upper decking down. What a mistake! As this has led to gaining this review! Rest assured, we have now re-installed the heaters. Sometimes you can't win! Incidentally, I did complain about this review to Trip Advisor, as it actively promotes another business, but this is acceptable apparently.

The location is wonderful and on previous occasions we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Sadly our latest visit left me very disappointed. There was limited choice for a dinner menu and what I ordered for myself left me dissatisfied. The asparagus was inedible, the salad very bland and nothing like the description, the bass fillets were nicely cooked but had very little taste. Such a shame, just hope it was a "one off".

Dear Esme W.. Thank you for taking the time to post your ‘Disappointed’ review. It’s a shame you couldn’t find the time to post reviews on previous occasions when ‘we thoroughly enjoyed our meal’. But alas! Human nature at its finest. You say… you just hope it’s a “one off”. If you choose not to return to the Ferry, it will remain a “one off”. Should you choose not return, I will take this opportunity to thank you in advance. I remain your humble servant. Andy ‘End of Summer Season can’t be Bothered with this Nonsense’ Baker.

Visited sue to the good reviews here but had an awful meal. The starters were OK but the mains were terrible. We asked if the burger could be cooked medium but they said it couldn’t, and when it arrived it was quite clear why, it was a bought in, cheap, thin, brown patty which brought back memories of those served at school. The lasagne was also awful. Far from the rich beef description it was soggy with cheap mince, full of grated raw carrot, and I swear the cheese sauce was either made from a packet mix or was from a jar. With a bottle of wine we spent £80. We did convey that the burger was awful which the waitress (who was excellent) conveyed back to the kitchen who confirmed they are bought in and they would consider changing supplier. There was no suggestion of removing anything from the bill. This was the worst meal, by far, of our week travelling the south west coast of wales.

Thank you so much for your kind and uplifting words… It is very rare that we receive reviews that are so well written and articulate. My guess is that you are a wordsmith of some note. The way you have weaved together such an intricate tale, using great words such as, terrible, lazy, cheap, soggy and awful. I particularly love your ‘School Dinners’ reference. Genius. Great sub plot. If you are looking to improve your creative writing skills, may I recommend a book ‘The Art of Banging on About Nothing’ by Professor William Jennifer Windbag IV. I remain your humble servant, Andy Baker. R.C.R. (Raw Carrot in Residence) P.s. Tip… If you have any issues in a restaurant, try mentioning them at the time. Rather than huddling around your carpet slippers, over-buttering the bread.

To all that might think this place is ohhhh so perfect. Yes, it's geographically perfect and this may suggest that prices are high, or will be high. But... It's still run by 18yr olds and not different to allot of places of similar urc. To charge £3 for half a coke and a total bill of £14 for one brains beer one j2o and two diet cokes is beyond a joke. Why I am writing this review is because of what turned out to be, where "the customer is always right" completely disappeared with this establishment and two women, one waitress and one I can only assume was the owner shouting at me stating we "don't need people like you" What.. for complaining about an extortionate amount of price for pop. But to shout across there establishment that "I am not wanted in this restaurant" when all I did is what a million of us all want to do and say... How much for a Coke? Thank goodness I didn't eat there and pay £18 for over the top fish and chips and to be spoken to like I was by an owner and waitress was despicable. I stood my ground and said that no way was I paying £3 for half a coke. How is this advertising... Come to us and drive and soft drinks are definitely cheaper than a beer.. well not this place. Yes.. this place will fly through this review and come out the other side as go back to the beginning and read the word, "geographical" which is what this place has. Thank goodness I did not spend my hard earned money on this establishment and just wasted £14 on there kids drinks and one pint of ale.

Mr T, Fact or Fiction. That is the question. Oh, dear! What can the matter be? ‘Amount of price for pop’ Half a pound of tuppenny rice, Half a pound of treacle. That’s the way the money goes, Pop! Goes the weasel. I must say, I was disappointed when you ended your review. I do enjoy a solid work of fiction. ‘It's still run by 18yr olds’… Useful fact… thank you, I’m 62. My Manager who also spoke to you is 35. ‘To charge £3 for half a coke’… Useful fact… It’s £3 for a 12oz coke "Don't need people like you" "I am not wanted in this restaurant"… Useful fact… ‘You don’t like it here you can leave.’ ‘£18 for over the top fish and chips’… Useful fact… we don’t have fish and chips on our menu. "The customer is always right"… Useful fact… Not when they are wrong. ‘Two women, one waitress and one I can only assume was the owner’… Useful fact… one Assistant Manager and one Owner. One my daughter and one my wife. Commonly known as a family business. Geography. I have a keen interest in geography, it’s not uncommon for me to sit in bed with my atlas, dreaming of faraway places. My atlas has a section on our solar system. If you have a moment, please could you send me the coordinates of the planet where you live, so I can take a look. To infinity and beyond. I will assume you won’t be visiting us again. May I thank you for this in advance I remain your humble servant, Andy ‘Three Pound Twelve Ounce’ Baker. Useful fact… A licensee retains the right under common law to exclude anyone from his premises. Refusing to pay and causing a scene probably qualifies. You know when a difficult customer returns a pack of kippers to customer services at a supermarket and it takes five members of staff to deal with the issue. This was similar. Minus the poor kippers. Sorry, had to throw in the cheeky kippers. With all the troubles in the World, I think the humble kipper gets overlooked.

Great food and excellent service. We were staying in a local B&B and listed in the recommendations list to eat out is The Ferry Inn. We checked out the menu and booked to eat @6.30pm. We managed to park in the restaurants car park and on entering, we were greeted with a warm welcome and introduced to our server for the evening, Georgia. Drinks were ordered and we were given plenty time to make our choices. Skipping starters after seeing the dessert menu, we plumped for a steak for my wife and the Seafood Tagliatelle for me. Both dishes cooked from fresh, it’s so obvious with the quality of the ingredients used. The Blueberry Frangipane to follow is a must. With great food you need great service to match and that we certainly had, Georgina was busy with a full room, but never flustered, always smiling, giving us time and space to enjoy our meal, never rushed. A lovely evening, Thankyou

This is a fabulous place. Location is amazing, over looking the estuary. As it was a nice day we sat outside. Great menu, something for everyone, including vegetarians. Service is prompt and professional. We ordered a meat and veggie Sunday lunch which was cooked and presented to a very high standard. My son couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the Kale was cooked! Plus the beef! Hubbie had the seafood basket which was delicious. Deserts didn’t disappoint, the dark chocolate torte was sublime. We will definitely return. Exceptionally dog friendly!

My husband and I have just enjoyed two memorable meals at the wonderful Ferry Inn at St Dogmaels. It was a busy bank holiday weekend and on both occasions they were fully booked (always a good sign!) but pulled out all the stops to find us a table. Their Sunday lunch was so good we returned mid week for a wonderful dinner last night. The food is of the highest quality and the atmosphere so very welcoming. It was just such a pleasure to be able to relax and enjoy ourselves after many weeks of hard work and to have such a warm welcome from all the lovely staff. My husband is a retired Italian chef and, living now near Cardigan, we will definitely be returning to The Ferry Inn as the food was the best that we have eaten in the local area for a long while. What a relief to find it!

The restaurant environment was beautiful with stunning views. The food was delicious. We ordered a seafood platter to share and for the main, I had sea bass as the main, and my partner had the seafood tagliatelle. The service was perfect. Friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back again.

The views at the Ferry Inn are gorgeous and the staff attentive and plentiful. However it's pricey. I paid £20 for the sea food platter which consisted of about 6 piece of deed fried fish and some chips. it's more London prices than Welsh prices. Highly recommend booking as every single table was prebooked so you can't just rock up and have a drink outside on the multiple terraces.

Thank you for your review. Regarding pricing:- We are competitively priced for the area & indeed have many of the same costs as businesses in London. The cost of staffing, food and energy is no less in Wales I'm afraid! Having said that, London prices? I don't think so. As you say, we are very busy, hence tables being reserved, but drinkers are more than welcome here, and can walk in for drinks at any time,

This pub/restaurant is outstanding . I am celiac and it is not just an exceptional treat but a transformational experience to be looked after as well as this and to be able to eat so much on menu. The food is fresh , local and delicious . Service is warm and friendly, efficient , organised and for a busy place you feel as though you are as important as any other person there. Beautiful setting outside over looking the water . One of the best meals I have ever had and wish we lived close by , worth a return visit. I am very impressed how this whole area is opening up to allergies and in my case inability to absorb gluten and the differences between the various conditions. Eating out can be a very worrying experience and the whole area from Haverfordwest to StDogmaels are setting the high standard bar. Thank you to a lovely team , especially the wonderful ladies with her nails who looked after us, bright, bubbly, warm and engaged , congratulations to this fab place. Laura S

Wowzers, this charming waterside restaurant is currently serving up some truly delicious food. I’m loathe to praise it too much otherwise I might not be able to get a table again, but they deserve it… so here goes. Went for family lunch on Easter Sunday when it was packed and ultra busy, but they more than delivered on food quality and service in its lovely setting . Liked it so much we went again this Sunday, had a warm welcome back from waitress Jamie who coped seamlessly with our numerous needs, and once again served up delicious Beef Daube with root vegetables and tender stem broccoli, followed by various yummy desserts like Frangipane Bake, Sticky toffee pud, and Passion fruit cheesecake. And happily the vegetarians were also catered for, the Butternut Squash Wellington went down a treat as did the Garden Burger. I’ve also had wonderful dinners on the deck in the summer, so compliments to the proprietors on providing a great local service

We visited The Ferry for a large Family pre wedding day dinner, and they were amazingly helpful, understanding and patient. Of our group of 20 we had several excited kids and some of our group were heavily delayed by traffic! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was great. Sorry I didn’t get the name of our primary server but she was excellent 👍👍👍
