Quaint and authentic style pub with delicious food and generous portions. We had the lamb dinner and a hamburger with chips and especially the loved their sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Great service and warm and comfortable atmosphere.

The Inn is situated in the small Town of St John's' town of Dalry on the east side of the New Galloway forest. It's perhaps not the easiest place to get to but it is certainly worth heading there for a meal as the food was top notch. There are many times driving through small towns and you see a... More

We stayed at the pub for two nights and ate there too. There was an interesting use of Scottish ingredients such as Scotch eggs made of haggis and duck eggs. I was fascinated by the deep fried apple pie on the menu so tried it. it was in fact along the lines of apple strudel and very tasty. All the... More

We are pleased you enjoyed the food you had during your recent visit. We try to use as much local produce as possible getting supplies from the local butchers, greengrocers and smoke house. The duck eggs are actually provided by someone who lives in the village. Thanks for posting a positive review. More

Great experience at the Clachan Inn, food was top quality, could only manage a main course it was so filling! Puddings looked appealing so will definitely be back to taste them! Service was great, very friendly and made us feel very welcome, will definitely be recommended this restaurant in future.

The food here is very tasty country pub food. Desserts were a little underwhelming but mains were great. Unfortunately the service when we visited was sub par. We were basically ignored the whole night to the point where we had to go up to the bar to get someone to take our order.

My wife and I ate here with our 14 month old daughter, not once but twice during our week long stay in Dumfries and Galloway, after our first meal we had to come back! Food was excellent, locally sourced, freshly made with a good a la carte selection, daily specials and even an early bird menu to top things off.... More

Excellent food, friendly service. Enjoyed an early bird meal . Grandson very happy with the choice of chicken goujons and chips which were home made and delicious ( the grown ups tried some of his food too!)

Recently visited this cosy pub with many traditionally Scottish fishing & hunting artifacts. Welcoming experienced staff. Good menu - right number of choices - not over-long, some specials. Produce of local provenance including game, brisket, melt-in-the mouth pork belly etc. Puds all home-made, interesting ice creams - succumbed to the brule rice pud with a cinnamon ball of ice-cream, toffee...
