Went to the George gastropub to have a Sunday lunch on the off chance as I've never been there before. I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent service and the meal.

Booked by phone for 9 of us for a 75th birthday meal. Gave details of what every-one wanted to eat and the staff were helpful. A shame that when we arrived it seems no-one on duty knew of the arrangements but after a firm push...More

Food was good in a busy pub / restaurant. Basic menu for Sunday lunch but good atmosphere and worth a visit. Very reasonably priced. Service a little random.

We had to book The George at late notice and I feel we were fortunate to get a table for 11. Members of the family travelled from Sussex and Birmingham to have our annual family meal. The George did not disappoint. The food and staff...More

I met a friend for lunch on a Saturday. The pub is a typical English country pub, log-fire burning, stripped wooden tables and comfy chairs and a lovely atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome with attentive and polite staff. The smoked salmon sandwich...More

Went for a Friday lunch. Lovely open fire, not too busy at 12.30pm. Service quick at beginning. Staff friendly. Had fish pie and asked for broccoli instead of peas. Beware! broccoli is cooked with hot chillies, not to my taste! Asked for plain broccoli obligingly...More

Yes Just phone ahead and tell then you need gluten free and ask what they have on the menu for the evening. They are normally very accommodating with allergy requests.
