Lovely relaxed birthday lunch. Delicious food. There is a children’s menu but my children chose to eat from the adult menu as a wider range of options & they ate a whole adults portion they enjoyed it so much. A wonderful touch was for dessert they decorated the dessert with a candle & embellished with a happy birthday which made us all smile & make the occasion feel really happy.

We booked a table here on spec while staying at nearby Stoke Park and we weren’t disappointed. The welcome was warm and friendly and although the restaurant was a little quiet when we arrived (6.45pm), it soon filled up to create a good atmosphere. Service was attentive and the food simply excellent, especially the mains of lobster tagliatelle and liver Veneziana. A cheeky tiramisu and a couple of strong coffees finished off a superb meal in a really lovely restaurant. Very impressed. Just a shame we live 150 miles away otherwise we’d be regulars, I’m sure.

Enjoyed the food- liked the way the location and decor but the service unless you are one of the regulars you can find it somewhat annoying. As I said you really cannot fault the food, I love Italian cooking and this was prepared well. Hopefully, the owner who is charming to those he knows will not ignore the customers who are passing through as this lets the experience down. However, I think it is his wife who is very charming and makes sure you get a welcome. If I go again (I am not a local) I hopefully will receive better service with the same quality of food.

Lovely Sunday family lunch. Enjoyable family lunch on the terrace. Clear glass surrounding the outside terrace & patio heaters for warmth but not needed as the glass stops draughts. We had whitebait to start, seafood pasta,tagliatelle bolognese, a light lunch option of Salmon & avocado on toast & a mussel starter as a main for a child & a bottle of very drinkable house red for dessert a tiramisu & ice cream with chocolate sauce for the children. A very enjoyable lunch & no hardship sitting outside as the law as this time prescribes. Bill around £120. Service great & handy pay & display car park behind the restaurant. Good atmosphere the restaurant terrace was busy & so was the more casual cafe owned by the restaurant next door for a more pocket friendly family option but the main restaurant is lovely for a treat, special occasion or a weekend lunch.

Once again, we had a lovely meal. The main menu has enough variation to be interesting, and there are always specials that make choosing your meal even more challenging. The owners are both lovely, and the service is great. My only suggestion is that when telling people what the specials are, the price should also be given. The restaurant is coping with the current Covid issue very well, and it should not be a barrier to going for a delicious meal.

Took two guests to dine there end May beginning June and the experience still haunts me.
My guests each had the plaice which arrived like two half crusted fishfingers. Yuck.
I was their host and could not complain to staff embarassing the event for my guests and of course they would not. They just about got it down.
I had the pasta for mains and the sauce was worse than seawater.
We ordered from the Table D'Haute menu @ £28 each comprising of three courses. Soup and desert ok -ish.
I had to ask for bread rolls to accompany the starters and what arrived looked and tasted like scraps. I have thrown better to the birds!
My guests thanked me profusely for the lunch, compensating for the fact that it was awful and picking up on my disguised upset/embarassment.
A few days later, my guests were also invited to lunch at another eaterie by other friends of theirs, one of whom I know and bumped into.
I remarked that it had to be better than our La Cantina FC experience and she went silent, looked away and then said " You were very kind to them."
I asked jokingly if either felt unwell afterwards and was informed they felt better after awhile.
The bill in total came to £121 , including 2 small glasses of house wine, 1 bottle sparking and still water and 3 coffees - Americanos
As I was with guests, did not ask for an itemised bill, but I do know that extras were snuck on. Cheap behaviour.
Very upsetting. Wanted to give no star.

We had a super lunch with great service at la Cantina del Vino on 14th July 2022. We were a large group of local Nordic walkers and we like to have our summer lunch there. This was our third year after a Covid interruption.
The management and staff are always flexible and able to cater for our different needs and payment preferences e.g. as pairs or singles...
Food in every case was delicious and we look forward to visiting again as again next year.

It's so nice to be warmly greeted and where your preferred table is known and available (we were early).
As other diners arrived it became clear that they too were nearly all repeats - well deserved in our experience.
It speaks volumes about the appeal of the dishes - quite different from the 'multiples'. Nothing appears to be too much trouble - variations/ special requests, .you only need to say. From our server to the principal, they really wanted to know if we were happy with our experience.
You don't need to ask.

This is great authentic Italian food that never fails to appeal to everyone, and they are still doing a great take away menu during these times of need, and will deliver in all SL1 and SL2 areas. Help to support all our local businesses during this Coronavirus. The main restaurant has closed due to Government ruling, but that doesn't mean we cannot support them with take away options. My review answers are only meant during Coronavirus restrictions. This restaurant suits all ages

lunch for two inside. They were not busy. The server did not know, the soup of the day, if the meatballs were beef or pork, or the dish of the day. the bread served at the very start tasty but not soft or warm. My friend had the chicken melanise which was overcooked and therefore dry served with a little spaghetti with a tomato sauce but not enough sauce so again dry and she couldn't finish it. I had the veal escalope with a wild mushroom sauce and wilted spinach. strange there was no potato, rice or pasta served with it so it was very rich but not very filling. we mentioned the dry meal but nothing was said or done. They add 12.5%service but wasn't worth it. Wont be back.

Excellent service, head waiter was lovely, described the fraught situation they had come through with charm and humour. Great food, vegan and vegetarian options were made on the spot with no complaints. Made to feel really welcome and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Great place to spend wedding anniversary so will 100% be returning. Thanks again guys and ladies!

A really well run high quality restaurant- with excellent food - the ravioli, crab starter & main, sole on or off the bone, the Parmagiana - all excellent hot and well presented. The outdoor area is well spaced and warmed with heaters and blankets. The wines are tasty and good value. Went on Friday with friends. Returned last night with the family. Well done Massimo & Betta.

I've been going to Cantina since it opened in 2008. It never disappoints! The food is excellent, the service friendly and efficient and Elisabetta and Massimo always welcoming. Top marks all round.
My most recent visit was for lunch in September, but I have had both lunch and dinner at the restaurant on numerous occasions.

We have been to this restaurant on different occasions over many years and were booked in for Christmas Dinner, second sitting this year 2023. We have always been well looked after.
Sadly this Christmas was a complete let down with a hugely disappointing, very expensive Christmas meal.
We arrived as requested at 3.30pm and were taken to our table where cutlery and crockery were missing.
Although the table was finally set we still had to request crackers during the meal and additional cutlery.
While the starters were enjoyed we were not offered bread, although watched other tables being offered it.
Our order of 5 turkey mains were varying in size, either just 2 to 4 sprouts , not ‘vegetables’ as advertised and just a few halves of small roasted new potatoes, rather thin slices of turkey, one cocktail chipolata. No sauces offered.
The vanilla crème brûlée which was advertised as being served with a blood orange sorbet. It was infact served with strawberry ice cream and no notification by waiting staff that there was a change on the menu.The crème brûlée had no burnt sugar on it .
The tables were packed tightly and to the point staff had difficulty in manoeuvring around everyone. I really felt for the young staff who were trying their best.
When booking we had asked if they wanted us to pre book our meals, but said it wasn’t needed . Most probably the manager had not thought through correct quantities required for Christmas Day, and the result was a very poor offering.
Sadly our patronage will now not be supporting this local business.

We booked in for the second sitting on Christmas Day, and had just such a wonderful time. As with every visit, we were welcomed and the service was first class, it was busy but a lovely atmosphere. The food was tasty and a lovely variety for those not wishing to take up the traditional turkey.
It’s always going to be a challenge for 2 sittings and transitioning from first to second, but the team handle it with professionalism and style. We are incredibly lucky to have this restaurant in the village, and with such classy owner operators.
All the touches of the bread and other little surprises always goes noticed, hence the extra tip we left the staff for working Christmas Day to give us a day with the family without distraction.
