Just had a superb meal here with Paul and his team. We booked this pub on spec based on their website as we are on holiday in the area. We struck gold - a very warm welcome, prompt and courteous service, excellent quality of food...and good value for money. Very pleased to see that local produce was being emphasised on the menu and happy to choose these local foods. The cleanliness of the restaurant, especially the tables, was also excellent. We have booked again for later this week.More

This pub is clearly run by an owner that looks after their staff, the food was delicious. All food that came out from the doors showed true passion and love that has gone into the cooking from the chef. Highly rate this for a lovely...meal out.More

We were recommended to go here on the strength of having such a bad meal at another establishment. What can I say, views to die for, service impeccable, food beautifully presented and so reasonable in price. Had lunch one day and then an evening meal...another and I cannot recommend this establishment more if I tried. We had our dog with us on this holiday and he received just the same amazing service! Please if you are ever this way make the effort to go I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Lunch came to £52 from memory with wine and beers and dinner again with wine and beer £87 for 4 people each time. Just wish we had found it on our first night!More

Son in law was given a referral to the rifle volunteer pub/ restaurant. Booked early as it was a very popular place and they weren’t wrong. Situation, inside atmosphere, outlook, staff efficiency all very good. The food was excellent and didn’t have to wait long....Good value as well. We went to a restaurant in my area where we live and this place could show them how to do things properly. Definitely will return when I visit my daughter in Cornwall again.More

Great pub, lovely food and fantastic staff. You will not want to leave the lovely atmosphere that is created, a business very well run and the place is spotless, the attention to detail is faultless.

We booked as a family of six for a meal before we go home from holiday. On arrival our table had been dressed and we were welcomed in to a side room that was beautifully decorated. We all had three courses of food all of...which were presented beautifully and was very tasty. Staff were very attentive and we were not felt rushed at all . The food here was way above our expectations and that was a lovely surprise. Thankyou to all the team at the rifle volunteer. Our holiday ended on a high note. We will be returning .More

We met a friend in Cornwall and walked our dogs on Kit Hill before looking for a dog friendly pub for lunch. Tideford is well located not far across the border from Devon and on one of the main road arteries into the county, and...the Rifle Volunteer is just off the main road in Tideford itself. I couldn’t comment on the accommodation, but it looked very pleasant. I can, however, comment on the food, which was absolutely fantastic. I had the King Prawns with garlic sauce abs homemade bread, and it was fantastic! I would suggest asking for some extra napkins though, as the prawns still have their shells on so it’s quite a messy experience. My wife had fish goujons and our friend had the tortilla chips, and both enjoyed them very much too. We’ll be heading back very soon!More

Our Airbnb host recommended this pub for a relaxed meal during our break. Upon arrival, a warm welcome and a table with a wonderful view. Menu has specials which suit every taste. Portions are generous, wine list also has something for everyone. Chicken Souvlaki was...exceptional as was the Chicken Burger and Lamb Koftas. Desserts should be on a tasting plate as so many choices to be made :) If we were staying longer we would definitely visit again. Our favourite meal of our holiday so far. Service superb and we were made to feel so welcome. For those with dogs, it is pet friendly.More

Yes probably, the place gets really busy, we booked in advance and the time they gave us was a little early but it was because they were fully booked after 6pm. Excellent place, service and food. Hope you enjoy!
