Stayed for just under a week at the beautiful new hotel above the restaurant. Rooms are well appointed, modern and roomy. The family that own the place are the warmest nicest hosts. There is a beautiful courtyard that overflows with tropical plants. The seafood focused menu has many great option and all is very fresh and well prices. I could have eaten here every night. I will be back for sure!

We stayed here 2 years ago and had such a pleasant experience that we vowed to return the following year. Covid had other ideas and our trip was delayed by a year. Came back for 10 days of bird watching and exploring. Pleased to say that nothing had changed. The rooms are airy, bright and amazingly quiet given the proximity to the middle of town. The family are incredibly gracious, some off the nicest people I have had the pleasure to deal with. Surprisingly, even though the reservation was not made in my name, they recognized me immediately and welcomed me as if I was returning home from a long trip. They were very accommodating of our early morning departures with fruit, banana bread and coffee ready for us. The restaurant served delicious food and the margaritas are tasty and strong. Can't say enough gopd about the people and the place. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

Not only is it a really good restaurant choice, they also offer rooms on Airbnb. We stayed for 7 days and can't say enough good about the place and the family. Step behind the restaurant and you enter a courtyard filled with vegetation. Heliconias and orchids were in full bloom and hummingbirds were busy enjoying the nectar. The rooms above the restaurant are a recent addition, less than one year old. They are large, bright spaces with air conditioning and ceiling fans. Even though you are so close to the plaza, the rooms are remarkably quiet. We were there during San Blas Carnaval weekend. The plaza was packed every evening . We could enjoy the festivities, then walk a short block to our quiet hideaway. I'm already making plans to return next year.

Pleasant staff, good food. We went back for a second meal. The owner was very attentive and gave us a history of the place that was quite interesting.

Spent whole month at San Blas Mexico so tried many eating places. Found the food & service at La Familia to be the best in town. Very few places could speak English but seemed to understand when we pointed to the menu but at La Familia the owners & family were all fluent & we got to know them well for their helpful attitude. As we are sporting fishermen we would often bring part of the days catch for them to cook for us which they did particularly well. When Mexican wi-fi went down (regularly) the owners at La Familia allowed me free use of their wi-fi during the day & a couple of times at night whilst enjoying drinks before dinner. Im greatly impressed with the attitude , experience & good food we enjoyed here & I thank them most sincerely for that When you travel to unspoilt original Mexico at San Blas from Australia, you dont expect things be done as well as the good people from La Familia do. THANKS.

We liked it last year, but being greeted by the English speaking owner was a joy! We hade the familliar cervici , which included different pineapple and small shrimp. Quite good. My one friend had his usual mixed frajitas, with beef and shrimp, and again claims it is the best that he's ever had. I had the fancy fish filet, which I seldom order, and it was very good, with green bell peppers, tomatoes, and cheese. Our Australian friend had the shrimp with garlic, that he liked. Service was excellent. Fairly wide menu items. We are in San Blas, and the owner said that they will cook whatever we catch, co, with any luck, we'll give them a try.

We ordered two fish entrees: A. Pescado La Plancha B. Pescado Merequetengue The waitress told us the fish was Dorado, but it was definitely not. We have been eating Dorado all along Baja for the past three weeks. The fish was very tough and each piece was very thin and dried out. It was way over cooked in both entrees. The first fish was served with cold beets and cold rice. The second was served with cold rice and very undercooked bacon and vegetables. We were quite disappointed with both entrees.

I did not find anything on the menu, that i wouldn't have liked. It is easy for me to recommend this place for anyone. If you are at San Blas, it is definetly a place worth visiting.

We three middle aged British guys were on our last leg of our fortnight in Medico. We were staying in San Blas three nights and on our last evening were too late for our favourite La Isla so tried La Familiar instead which we had checked out the interesting menu earlier in the day, although it was completely empty at lunch. We arrived at around 22:10 to find a family chatting at the roadside tables, no one inside but we were tired and it was late so we entered to be greeted by a large guy who offered us a choice of tables. We had lots of choice but decided to avoid the speakers which were producing jazzy music at a reasonable volume (although not our style). The waiter/chef offered the menus and seemed to be catering for the American style of hospitality, I.e. OTT for us Brits. We soon realised the other diners were actually the family sat at the front making place look busy. We were offered drinks so a michelada (45), margarita (70) and white wine (Sauvignon Blanc - 50) were ordered, then the waiter suggests a dish to pair with the wine (we are not used to that and only chose the cheapest wine and as veggies/pescatarians we have limited choices anyway). The drinks came and we were ready to order the (regardless of pairing suggestions) two Shrimp Hamburgers (95) and a Ceviche de la Casa (85). The drinks were all very reasonable and good quality. I seem to remember we used their wifi whilst we waited. I noticed the waiter was cooking on the kitchen with another chef. Whilst waiting the usual basket of nachos and a runny spicy tomato sauce was delivered. In good time the food arrived and it was all nicely presented. My Ceviche was quite tasty and carroty but I could not taste many shrimps. My friends had generous portions of shrimps in their burgers so were happy and ordered a glass of wine each extra. We finished the meal at about 23:30 and ordered the bill which came hand written and accurate at 540 so we paid by cash and left a 30 tip. Given it was a late we were happy and sated. We walked to the square where a big Mariachi band started to play with amplified singing into the midnight air.

Delightful surprise and a definite over the top unexpected experience....I asked a group of people at San Blas Social Club who looked to be seasoned locals if they could suggest the best food in town and they pointed to La Familia! Craving a burger and my husband a shrimpburger, our taste buds cried with utter joy when we bit into our food. Juicy, tasty, and very fulfilling. The restaurant was clean as were the washrooms. Staff helpful and friendly.

Difficult for me to put into words, but a very good meal. My friend and I ordered different but similar frajitas, and we had the same enjoyment. Mine had numerous, large shrimp, along with an assortment of other meats and vegetables. All tastes were well balanced, and not overly spicy. Large portions, and excellent oven baked potatoes - something seldom seen in Mexico. Both of us finished everything on our plates! Again, I can't describe it, but it may have been the most "eatable" meal that I've ever had in many trips to San Blas and Mexico! It just tasted GREAT! Owner came to the table and speaks English. Cost was more than reasonable. Serving time was a little long, but well worth it. Lots of choices on the menu, so we'll be returning!
