Typical local eatery, where you will see more Mexicans than tourists. Variety of typical dishes. Wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians. Very convenient in the old city center, half a block from the opera. There are likely to be lots of people, but you won't wait more than 10 minutes.

A great place to go in the historic center, as much for the cultural experience as the food. No-frills, 1950's diner-style food, great breakfasts. Cheap, efficient, delicious, and local clientele. Spanish-only.

Came here for light dinner and was not disappointed. It's diner food, but good and the portions are huge. The chicken soup and ensalada Carmen were both very good. So good, we got them via takeout a second night. Our server did not speak much English, though she was helpful and patient in understanding our broken Spanish.

This restaurant provides typical Mexican meals at a very cheap price. Indeed it is full of locals and you would hardly find tourists in it, which further signals that the food is good. It looks like an old American fast food and you should cue outside and wait for them to shout your name when a table is free, but... More

This restaurant is conveniently located only a couple of blocks from Palacio de Bellas Artes. Serving mostly middle class that works or shops downtown, or families during weekends and tourists from nearby hostels, the place is informal, cafeteria or dinner style. The menu is very large and offers practically all traditional Mexican dishes for breakfast, lunch and supper. Service is... More

Whenever I'm near Bellas Artes this is where I go for a quick lunch or breakfast. The daily lunch specials are unbeatable for the price, and the Pagoda has my favorite cup of coffee in the centro. Even when there's a line outside there is usually counter seating available.

Just went for coffee and hot chocolate. Very friendly place. The waitress brought a selection of buns to the booth for us to pick from. It get's very crowded at the weekends. There are queues. We went midweek when it was quieter.

It is an old "café de chinos" (chinese's caffee), with simple, traditional recipes. You don't need to spend too much to have a good meal with mexican flavour. I love the chocolate milkshake and the cofee with milk. Simply delicious!!! It is usually a little crouded, since it's very popular, but it is a nice experience.
