Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Local taqueria specialising in cochinita pibil tacos which we tried. They were very 'wet' but quite tasty...although you can't compare to the cochinita pibil you find in Merida.

These were probably the best al pastor tacos we had in CDMX. Dripping with pork juices, tons of flavor, and delicious. There was a line both times we ate them, but it moves quickly. The taquero is moving fast and does not give you a...lot of options, but what you get is amazing. If you want the best al pastor taco or suave, you have to come to El Turix.More

My sister and I came in on a Saturday at around 2 pm. There were a few people waiting in line at the time but it didn't take long because they work fast. Their most popular item is the torta. We got two to go...- one to share and one to bring back to my husband. After a block or so of walking, we both made the decision to just find a bench and eat it fresh and that was probably the best decision. Well I guess it was the second best decision, because we probably should have just ate it then and there. Still, it was a great torta, especially with the salsa it came with. It was the perfect snack to share for two (since we had already eaten beforehand and just wanted to try it). Hubby ate it about two hours later and said it was still really good - (though we were staying in a hotel w a kitchen, so he was able to properly heat it up in an actual pan). Long story short - eat it fresh if you can. But if you can't, it holds pretty well, as long as you have the proper elements to reheat it with. But the salsa makes it!More

I saw this place mentioned on a few food blogs and we decided to give it a try while on Polanco. You know it’s a good sign when there’s a line outside the place. It is like a hole in the wall but man, the...tacos were out of this world. I don’t really know what kind of mystery meat it was but all I can say is that I rarely eat meat but had to try these and they did not disappoint nor cause me any intestinal aftermath. Highly recommend, we went twiceMore

We read about this place in Conde Nast and had to try it. We walked up and several people were outside. We weren't quite sure what to do since we don't speak Spanish, but a local was very kind and asked if we needed assistance....We forgot it's cash only, so he directed us to a nearby ATM. We returned and the staff was kind enough to help us by speaking English and explaining how to order. We stood outside and enjoyed our tacos, tostadas and beers. The salsa was so good the bowl is nailed down so you can't take it! It was a fun and delicious experience and I think we paid about $10 US! Thank you to the staff who were so nice.More

I am not giving this eatery less stars because of what it is not: 1. Some complained there is no seating: Well, one should know ahead of time that this is not a restaurant. Get over it. 2. Some complained that the food assembler did...not wear gloves and hairnets: Duh! How many restaurants or food stalls have we visited and saw staff wearing gloves and hairnets? This is not a cafeteria or hospital/institutional kitchen. 3. Some complained that the place is chaotic. The food here is inexpensive and the chaos adds to the charm. If one wants tranquility and table service and wait staff to explain patiently if one does not speak some basic Spanish, please go to a regular cafe or restaurant. The reason I give this place three out of five stars is that the cochinita pibil is basically pulled pork on taco. It was very tasty but I've had similarly good pulled-pork sandwiches in many other places. I would go there for the low price, good cochinita pibil, the chaotic atmosphere. But like the Esquina del Chilaquil, in my opinion this place has been overly hyped- up.More

Three days in to our CDMX vacation my family of 5 was severely stricken by food poisoning within hours of getting food to go from El Turix Polanco. We ordered around 8:15pm - no other customers in sight. Perhaps they gave us old salsa as...everyone was sick in the middle of the night. We had street food days earlier in the trip without issues. We don't have wimpy stomachs as we consume hot salsas pretty frequently. No exaggeration to say this ruined much of our trip as the effects lasted for days.More

We ate here twice, during our week-long trip to CDMX. Their habanero salsa was my favorite salsa during the whole trip. It's not fancy, but we had enough of table cloths and wine lists at other places in Polanco. We wanted delicious food - and...delicious food is what they serve.More

Sloppy wet taco didn’t live up to our expectations for good street food. Messy to eat, and no distinct spice, or flavor. No seating unless you count the curb around the garden box.

It is a very crowded place and very limited seating, not more of three or four people. But they just opened a new location, not far from these, where is ample seat place and parking as well. It is in Mazaryk and Periférico, behind the...ramp (bajopuente). The cochinita, the speciality, is the best in Mexico City.More

This place is famous and for good reason. The food was delicious, however, there are very minimal cleanliness standards. Everything was done by hand with no gloves, no hair nets, etc.

A cheap yet amazing hole-in-the-wall taqueria in the middle of fancy Polanco district. Sounds interesting already, right? CDMX is a city of contrasts, such as my experience with El Turix. I had a couple of hours to kill before my reservation at Quintonil so I...decided to grab something light before the full meal in the evening. Turix was on my to try list and it was a great choice. The cochinita pibil was amazing, right amount of spice, sauce and everything. Both the taco and the panuchos were great, I was really bummed that Polanco was so far from our accommodation so we couldn't go back to have it again. If you're strolliing through Polanco and do not fancy an expensive meal at one of the million upscale restaurants, just go to El Turix and thank me later. :)More

We went here as part of the Polanco Food Tour and we could have just stayed here and been happy for the rest of our tour. The Chochinita Pibil Taco was the best taco I have ever had outside of Campeche, Mexico. The five of...us were so happy that we were ready to move to Polanco so that we could just have easy access to this Taqueria. Their Habanero sauce although delicious, is dangerous, so be careful. Don't try to do what one of our tour members did because she turned red and could not recuperate from the spiciness for a while. That being said, she wanted to return.More

One of our very favorite places over our five day trip. I will be thinking about this food for a long time! Very unique "tacos" on a fried tortilla with bean inside and a messy glob of slow-cooked, super tasty pork plopped on top. They...also have tacos. No seating and it's super messy, so you may want to find a place to wash your hands afterwards. : )More

Believe the hype. El Turix does one thing, conchinita pibil and they do it exceptionally. You can chose to put the slow cooked pork on a taco, torta or panucho (tostada smeared with beans) and wash it down with a cold soda or beer. This...is a must stop in CDMX and is worth waiting a few minutes if the lines out the door.More
