Overall the food is good, from the cream fresh tomales to the short ribs with chichilo mole the kitchen performs well. The chocolate dessert is good and the use of purslane in their salad is excellent. The service is slow and can be frustrating it...More

We were group of 4 women visiting Oaxaca City and enjoyed this wonderful place twice. First time we had a pitcher of Sangria and appetizers. We returned for our farewell dinner -- selecting it after enjoying meals at many other highly rated restaurants and deciding...More

First things I consider it disqualifying for a recommendation. I ordered a gin and tonic of the same gin I have used for at least 20 years. Came poured over ice with tonic on side. Added tonic and had absolutely no gin taste, as I...More

I was so underwhelmed by this restaurant. How is it number one on here? I feel like I’ve missed something. The food and service were decidedly average. Casa Oaxaca is by far the better restaurant. Don’t waste your money here.

We entered this restaurant due to the good ratings in TA. I have been there years ago (2006) and the quality of the meals were not very good. The wonderful courtyard doesn´t changed. I have been there with a friend of mine and we tried different...More

Beautiful courtyard setting. Service was spot on, not intrusive, not ignoring us. Food was outstanding for both carnivores and vegetarians. Nice wine list, with many excellent Mexican wines and other international wines. I can highly recommend and will go back on a return trip

It is as good as it gets at Catedral. The positive reviews are true. We had not been to Catedral in many years and we were glad we went back. There were 5 of us and they were willing to separate the bills, per our...More

Well prepared, lovely Oaxacan plates. Nice wine list. Can reserve tables on OpenTable. Courtyard is a better place to sit, as the indoor rooms were particularly noisy with kids and street noise on our visit.

Excellent food and service in a Hacienda type restaurant. Very Mexican motif. Don't miss the courtesy chocolate Mescal aperitif before ordering your meal. (And I don't even care for mescal) It was Yummy!

Waitstaff were excellent and service top notch, but food was not at level of expectation. We ordered the Oaxaca platter, recommended to share for 2 people, was definitely enough to feed 2 or more, but the chile relleno was cold, old and hard, meat both...More

No dress code that we noticed. It's an upscale resto though, so people weren't in shorts.

Yes, they still had it in November 2016. The price is about $200 pesos. They told me at the restaurant that it the buffet will continue to be offered: excellent value, good opportunity to try a variety of dishes.
