We loved the coffee served at our B&B (El Diablo y la Sandia) and we asked where they bought their coffee. Nuevo Mundo not only roasts coffee on site, but they run a small cafe with coffee, pastries etc. And, of course, you can buy 500g or 1kg bags of vacuum packed bags of coffee to take home (500g for... I've lived in Oaxaca since 2009 and have settled on buying my personal coffee beans here (dark roast). It's a funky cafe well loved by locals and a faithful group of return visitors to Oaxaca. It's a place to talk face to face, or read a good book. Not so much to get work done on your computer.

This charming little patio coffee roaster has personality and ambience. The baristas are efficient, friendly and professional in how they make your favorite coffee drink. Any time, night or day, the patio is full of locals and tourists sharing culture and ideas. A true throw-back to Paris in the 20's when Hemingway, Picasso, Modiglianni, Dos Pasos, and Rivera argued over... More

We were so excited to try this coffee cafe but were horribly disappointed. Not only did they not have but two, day old pastries, they were costly for their small size. Waitress and person behind counter spoke no English and were really not very good at their jobs. Menu was extremely limited, food looked average at next table, so I... More

I stopped in to get take out food and drinks for a meal in our hotel room. the cafe was crowded but the staff was attentive and helpful. It took a while for my order to get ready, and then I paid and headed back to the hotel. The order had come in two bags; I thought one was the... More

One of my favorite cafes in town. I went here almost every day during several weeks in Oaxaca. The coffee is solid. The pastries are generally good, too (my favorite was the panque de platano (banana bread)). The other food isn't bad but there are way better food options elsewhere in town. I also really enjoyed the chocolate oaxaqueno (de... More

Have come here a few times and they are often busy, a little slow. Good coffees, selection, teas as well. If you are going in for coffee or tea to go, be a little pushy (in a friendly way) because others will get ahead of you.

Living in Melbourne, great coffee is almost a given, and when it's not there, you notice it! So, upon hearing that Nuevo Mundo "knows how to make a great coffee", my husband and I raced off to get a caffeine fix .... and the recommendation was spot on! We also returned the next morning for breakfast with a group, and... More

Nuevo mundo This is one of two or three locations in Oaxaca. This location is fine, not spotless. The tables and chairs are a bit beaten up, with nicer ones up front and the back room rather shabby. My latte was surprisingly well made. Not frothy. Lemon cake is pretty much what you would expect, though mine might have been... More

Coffee grown in Oaxaca and fresh warm corn bread right out of the oven. What more can you ask for in the morning before you start your day?
