Very good food. I have been there twice one with a very nice Waiter the second time another one not so great which is a shame! But the food is always very good and prices are good as well they have a lot of options for vegetarian which is great !

It's been a great discover. Restaurant and cafe runner by a Zapatista supporter. Great typical Mexican food and nice service. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting San Cristobal the las Casas

The atmosphere is first but not only advantage of this place. It is run by Zapatista supporters, few shops selling associated books/accessories are located around. It's located in a nice, roofed patio which seems to be a peaceful oasis when you enter from a busy street. The choice of food is really great, plenty of local dishes including big amount... More

Visited this restaurant last month (Jan/2017) for a quick lunch. Was very pleased with the menu as it has a little bit for everyone, from traditional mexican plates to pizza (yes pizza!). Service was decent and prices are fair, even passed by the next day to grab a quick slice of pizza to go to hold me over while I... More

We ate here and had great soups - huge bowls for only 40pesos. I recommend the Cream of Vegetable Soup. The prices are reasonable and atmosphere funky.

A huge, huge menu with just about everything under the sun on it should have been the first warring, but we went in anyway. The service is painfully slow with wait staff that are clearly not very well trained, if at all. Long waits for food that at best is average and priced pretty high. Kids constantly running in from... I have been visiting here for many years and have always enjoyed and recommended. Not anymore. I suspect, a victim of their own success. They have an extensive menu but we ordered promptly and promptly received our drinks and bread. But that was the end of prompt. After about 45 minutes, and not being able to get anyone's attention, I... More

great location on main street, huge menu with lots of regular and local specialties. Lovely bread which I ate (because I was dying for bread, after eating gluten-free tortillas, beans and rice for 2 weeks!). I couldn't resist the herb butter on the bread to dip in my soups (huge) but I did pay for eating gluten :( Nice environment... More

We came to this place because it ranked highly on TripAdvisor. I have no idea how it has so many good reviews. We had Milanese de pollo and some prawns with vegetables. All of the food was cold when it arrived to the table and tasted awful. The prawns were way over cooked, rock solid and then left to get... More

After reading the brilliant reviews we were very disappointed in this place. It is full of tourists and the menu is tailored for that. The food is eatable but nothing special. I am really not sure what all the fuss is about with this place. WE came for dinner, maybe lunch is better?

Description
Excellent, tasty Mexican food of many types, including authentic Chiapaneca food. This restaurant is run by Zapatistas and there are several tiendas around the eating area selling products from Zapatista villages. Free WiFi, very good music (both live and recorded,) nice ambiance. The NY Times says it has a fixed price meal for $30 --- WRONG!! You can eat well for $ 10 and nearly as well for $ 7.00 USD.
