If you want to have a sample of one of Mexico's greatest regional cuisine, you should go to this place. Their menu is actually quite representative of the Oaxacan cuisine and its executed fairly well. If you have never had Oaxacan food before, this could be a good place to start. For starters, I'd recommend ordering the quesillo (Mexican-style string... More

Maybe we picked a bad night to try this restaurant. Based on our experience, I would not recommend it. My wife and I were pretty excited as we've both spent time in Oaxaca and this restaurant looked charming. However, the food was very poor. I ordered a chicken dish with red mole sauce -- it came as a single piece... More

If you want a true taste of Authentic Regional food, this is the place you want to go to. The Mole Enchiladas, the Cecina de Res and the cocktails are exquisite! Hand Made Tortillas! In the hotel tourist zone, this is unheard of - you have to try it - you'll love it plus the personal attention you get by... More

After reading other reviews, we wandered in and LOVED this place! Classy setting, great service and very reasonable prices, but the food is what got us hooked. Traditional Mole sauces (6) and you must try them all! We asked for help and they were quick to bring out a sampling, no charge. I liked two especially and my husband liked... More

We went here in Jan 2010, and a wonderful time. The food was very good, we had the pork and the chicken, do not remember the mole we had on each. The service was very good and the place is very clean. We for sure would go back again. Price for what you got was maybe a little high $550... More

We asked our hotel for some restaurant recommendations and all they gave us were for non-Mexican places. After some prodding, they mentioned the Calenda Oaxaca. The guy working the menu outside is not a waiter, as someone else mentioned. His job is two-fold - first, to get you to eat at the restaurant and, second, to try to sell you... More

Like the other reviewers, save one who did not like it, we found this to be a very enjoyable meal and overall experience. The head waiter Tony was outside and gave us an overview of the menu as we walked by - we were planning on dining there that night - but it was early so we went to look... More

My girlfriend and I strolled by and looked at the menu and I was intrigued by the Filet Al Mezcal so we decided to go in. What luck! Everything was delicious including the buttery guacamole and the salsa and dipping sauces served with the nachos. My steak was accompanied by an eye pleasing serving of potatoes drizzed with a mild... More

My husband, parents, brother and I were on vacation in Cancun for a week. We wanted to try a variety of food. We lived in Oceanside, CA for several years and our favorite restaurant was a Oaxacan restaurant. We were very excited to find this place! The food was great, the service was wonderful and the prices were within reason.... More

We ate here on the strength of the other reviews, and the only thing we can suggest is that the reviewers are connected to the restaurant. Even before we got to our table the manager was trying to sell us a tour -- and the night went downhill from there. Bad food, bad ambience, and empty -- nothing more to... More
