...nah, on 2nd thought, the food definitely was worse. Terrible, in fact. I don't know if I stepped into an alternate universe and ate at a different restaurant than the one that everyone else here seems to think was so awesome, but this dinner was easily the worst meal during my week in Mexico. The beef burrito tasted sour (?!?)... More

Felipe's hospitality is just as welcoming as the first time we enjoyed Calypso three years ago. We ordered the seafood combination once again and the tast margaritas, too. Everything was excellent, and we highly recommend this restaurant.

Good restaurant for seafood, but one diner had arranchera steak. Bad choice- tough! The rice was a bit hard,as well. So I would say stick to the seafood. Good food for the right price. I was a little put off, though, with the stray cats in the restaurant.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel's front desk clerk, and he had recommended some other great ones to us, so we were expecting good things. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The fish tacos were self-styled as "best in town," but they were definately not that good. It was nice to sit outside in a real "fish shack" type... More

Definite Carribean flavor next to the convention center; great for quick lunch. The enchilada mole was excellent and VERY cheap compared to other places. Felipe is wonderful.

This review is for the original Calypso's. During a three week trip to Cancun, we went to Calypso's 5 times. And every time was just as good as the last. I am in total love of the Snapper fish with garlic, add 5 shrimp for a few more dollars. The fish is always fresh and full of flavor. I am... More

Based on the positive reviews on Tripadvisor, we were really excited to visit Calypso for some good seafood. However, the food was bland even though we requested spicy. The side vegetables with the fish weren't appetizing. However we did like the starter guacamole and salsa.

We went there twice, and both times the fish was fresh and delicious. I would definitely return, next time in Cancun.

It appeared there were many returning patrons. Excellent meal. Due to kitchen being a bit backed up, owner sent us complimentary drinks! Worth the wait and recommend highly.
