We also ate here twice. The first time was a blind enter off the street! It paid off as we returned again. Fresh juices with fruit and veg = so tasty Banana leaf chicken and beans = yummy Even the simple chicken sopa was delicious ( good for poorly tummies) Good prices ( See the photos of menu) especially as... This place was recommended to us by various Mexicans who consider this an authentic, go to place. The food was fantastic, very generous portions and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the food so much we came back the very next day, definitely strongly recommend this place!

Favourite restaurant in Merida. Food is local, delicious and portions are huge. We tried the Combinedo Yucateco and couldn't finish half of it because we were already full. The service is great and smiling, which adds up. Definitely recommended!

Went for lunch with my partner and had the cochinita pibil with beans, onions and tortillas. Absolutely delicious! Great location one block from the main square. Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that put you off!

For a good and fairly cheap restaurant, this couldn't have a better location: a block or two from the plaza. The food was tasty and the service was friendly... though my friend got her soup maybe ten minutes before my dish arrived; she had finished by the time I started mine.

I have been travelling to Mérida for many years and when I am there this place is always my favorite standby. If you are looking for a touristy experience then El Trapiche is NOT it. However, if you are looking for good tacos, panuchos, enchiladas and the like at a reasonable price then this IS your place.

We ate twice at the El Trapiche....the food was good and the service excellent. The exterior appearance may appear a bit questionable for a tourist, but we had a good time there. Lots of local eat there, and we did not get sick eating there.

Despite being in the heart of the tourist area of Merida, my friend and I were the only two gringas in the restaurant. The waiter explained the daily special in Spanish and it sounded good, so that’s what we ordered. A delicious soup with a chicken base, pasta and frijoles. The main dish was beef pounded to thinness. It had... More

...that is highly recommended. Not much to look at but the food is really good. It's a cafe and saw a lot of locals there. Always a good sign! No risk here--El Trapiche is great!

This is what you shall look for: good tacos and fruit juices for very fair prices. Had one of the house specials washed with a jugo verde and was very happy!!
