We liked the bright tone of this cafe, as well as the variety of dessert and drink options available. We chose a chocolate smoothie here and it went down well on a typically warm day in Playa Del Carmen.

Our favourite cafe here in Playa. The ladies are lovely, providing great service and the prices are great. Have tried cappuccino, latte and iced latte so far! Love their lattes. Also went for breakfast one morning....we had an omelette and the avacado toast with egg...and bacon. The bread is fresh and crunchy. All delicious! Nothing like sitting outside with a latte and people watching.More
Fantastic coffee here at this cafe run by super nice staff. We forgot a little backpack here by mistake and the ladies were kind enough to take care of it for us until we came back for it later that day.
The croissants, the pastries the omelettes it was all delicious. Kids loved the gelato. Its a great little place around the corner from where we stayed.
El Gallinero is good value for the dollar. I had an omelette, homemade frijoles, toast, juice, coffee and a small salad for 100 pesos. The service was slow but very friendly and I would go again. It has a great central location one block from...Walmart.More
We visited here twice during our stay as it was around the corner from our hotel. Both times we had different omelettes and both times we were happy with them. Served with fresh toasted bread and a small pot of Mexican beans, and they ask...you if you want any hot sauces to go on the side (which we opted for - both the chipotle and the habanero sauces were very good which the latter being extremely potent). The smoothies and fruit juices are also very good. Staff are very friendly and we were very happy with the service. Would recommend it.More
I would like to recommend this cafe for breakfast. Our omlettes were really good. Service was really nice and helpful. Thank you!
Very cute coffee and breakfast spot, discovered it while on my way to my friend’s hotel. First day I got an ice coffee to go and then returned on the next morning to have breakfast with my friend. It was delicious and very affordable! They...also have good WiFi and staff is friendly and attentive.More
In addition to a wide selection of baked goods, leaning toward cakes and sweets, they have a selection of excellent gelato. Went to Amorino because we're tourists, but were happier with a quiet dish of gelato here--it's a third of the price and it comes...without a million other people or the pretension.More
A lovely place with amazing banana bread, carrot pie, breakfast, brunch, coffee or just a couple of banana bread slices to go! Simply charming!
I grabbed a quick breakfast at El Gallinero Du Chocolat while waiting for my ADO bus. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. I enjoyed a nice crepe and a fresh natural fruit juice and grabbed some almond chocolate croissants to go...which turned out to be delicious. I will be back there during my next visit to the Playa.More
My wife and I sat down at this restaurant with my parents. It is near the condo we stay at 3 weeks a year. After we ordered coffee it took about 10 minutes to have our coffee brought to us, which was luke warm. We...then ordered a typical breakfast, which in hindsight is a mistake being at a crepe restaurant. Three of us received our breakfast in a timely manor but the fourth person got theirs almost entirely after we were finished with our breakfast. The place it self is small and quiet which is very nice for a morning breakfast, located on the corner of Ave 20 and Calle 10. We will be trying this place again next year to give it a fair view, and order the right food for this establishment.More
The breakfast was awesome. Their pastries are just excellent. It's amasing ! I also suggest the frappuccino, the frappe and their smoothies... friendly place and service.
I am a huge fan of chez Celine and love a good croissant. So I was intrigued to see how this place compared and how the croissants were. Sadly neither wowed. Was ok though. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Discovered this jewel a few years ago and every single time I am in Playa del Carmen MUST go and buy chocolates from this place. Really cheap and great quality!
