We stopped for a late breakfast, but they only serve until 11:00. We ordered lunch instead, which was excellent and large portions. My husband had the shrimp quesadilla, excellent and large served with a side of guacamole and beans. I had the pasta carbonara, which...More

Our party of 4 had a great lunch here. Beers were so cold and food was delicious. Ceviche is very good. Be careful of the spicy one! Grilled fish was cooked perfectly. Thanks to a recommendation from our taxi driver we had a wonderful lunch.

Been visiting El Capitan several times and have always had their ceviche and have always been very happy with it. It's a good fresh classic ceviche and the servings are huge. I typically share a medium sized portion with a friend. Will keep coming back.

Inexpensive place for big eaters, not fussy about the quality of food. The dishes are huge, the ceviche is Ok but not the best I've ever had. The lima soup is outright terrible.

Stopped at El Capitan for lunch while we were in Tulum for the day. Nice atmosphere and outside space to watch the world go by. Food and service good plus reasonably priced. Worth a visit.

I had the tacos de pescado which were ok, I guess. The best plate that I enjoyed was the cocktail mixto. Oh my goodness was it delicious, and the serving was so big too. I recommend this dish if you get a chance to stop...More

Good beer and delicious tacos. Service was good and the place is comfortable to sit as a woman alone. Mayonnaise with garlic is my favorite! Will go there again when I am in the area

We found this place , the smaller El Capitan opposite the large supermarket, by chance. Good atmosphere, the staff were really friendly and helpful, with a good understanding of English. The food is your basic Mexican fare, and we enjoyed our tacos & fish ....More

We loved the octopus ceviche so much that we had to come and eat again during our week in Tulum. Very reasonable price for the giant portions. The fish tacos and the lobster soup were also great!

I can't recommend El Capitan. I got sick from the tacos, and the rest of my family had a pretty meh experience. There are about a million better places to eat—and which won't make you sick.

Can we make reservations for dinner a group of 37 volunteers working in the Mayan villages outside Tulum? Are you closed any days of the week? Do you take credit cards? Can you provide a menu so we can figure prices as our team leader pays for the food, soda, water for the team and we need to get a handle on our expenses before the trip? thank you...
