The service was very slow for no apparent reason as the restaurant was not full but drinks took 20 minutes to come and our order half an hour. We had to ask for bread. The starters were good and the main courses well cooked but it was a surprise to see Yorkshire pudding on the plate with roast chicken and there was no bread sauce. Overall rather disappointing for a restaurant which has become a favourite. Beware as the competition is increasing in North Norfolk!

We stayed one night in Room 1 at the Crown and the room was pleasant but the bathroom alas was not so pleasant with dirt and mould around the shower area. Not acceptable at £109 per night. The breakfast was good albeit the waitress appeared harassed as we were second down for breakfast followed by 6 other people who got served prior to us. The Crown needs to sort a few things out.

We have praised the crown many times on here and even personally thanked the managers plus the owner. But there is a small crack appearing ,this is our favourite place we have visited must be 14 times this year since lockdown was lifted love the place it is truly excellent .BUT we visited two weeks ago now the mussels are in season, HORROR I am not paying £19 for a pot of mussels, so we both had a starter size we got home and checked all the web site for all the other place around north Norfolk and found the crowns mussels are the most expensive in fact 2 to 3 pounds dearer, even the life boat at thornham who serve the Belgian national dish of mussels ,Pom frites bread roll is only £16.50. Plus we visited this Saturday for lunch with my daughter who drove from Norwich, we both had the roast haddock which was very nice but wasn’t very big and not worth nearly £17 ,my daughter had to order the cheese board to make up for the small portion of haddock. Plus your special board is full of salads, where’s the local Norfolk specials, venison, pheasant ,partridge ,local Norfolk fish ,local trout etc, one can only assume chef dosant know how to cook them?. Having said this the soup of the day is always excellent . We have seen this sort of thing before at a place in Sedgeford which we visit every week, they stated putting up price,s with less on the plate, reduced the special board so we walked with our feet Havant been back for over 10 years.

We visited for dinner on 21st May. The pub was bustling and had a lovely vibe. However good Covid precautions in place and tables well spaced out. We shared a Fish Platter from the starters menu between us which along with one portion of fries was plenty for a main course, The platter was excellent and well presented. Sweets were unusual and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful and clearly happy to be at work.

My partner and I were in the area, we called from the car park hoping maybe they would be able to accommodate us for Sunday lunch, very helpful polite lady answered and said yes. So we had a drink first and almost straight away our table in the bar area was ready, 2 x roast beef ( beautifully cooked & tender) with amazing Yorkshire and plenty of fresh vegetables arrived soon afterwards, hot plates and delicious gravy …. Compliments to all involved bar/ waiting staff and chef, we enjoyed it very much. We live in Norwich but would love to come and stay in your accommodation and try more delicious food and drink. Thank you all very much.

I just had lunch at the Crown. Staff welcoming, tables laid well, fire lit. I had the calves liver and bacon , on spinach and mash. It was possibly the best I have had anywhere. The liver was a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the bacon just right, delicious. Excellent coffee and little, melt in the mouth shortbread biscuit. My niece had a marvellous burger, home made , in a brioche bun, with onion rings and chips and the coffee. We both had bottled water to drink. I can not recommend the Crown more, especially for lunch on a cold day. Excellent service too. Five star!

We live locally to this pub, and eat here often. The food is always good, the service is always efficient and friendly and we constantly shout loud about this place. The joy of dogs being welcome makes this rather special. I just wish that the regular menu was changed more regularly, as we are there often and have repeated our choices many times. I am aware of the specials board, but sometimes things have just run out...... Just a suggestion .Please?

Fantastic tasty home cooked food and wonderful service from the blonde haired lady who suggested I have prawn linguine......I'm so glad I listened to her, I could eat it again. Will definitely return on another visit to Norfolk.

We also eat at least twice or even three times in the summer when we stay in East Rudham! This time we were there in February to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. As always the service was good and the staff was friendly. Food was up to its usual great standard. We travel up from Surrey. See you in August

Me, my partner and another couple booked for lunch short notice. the lady who took our booking over the phone was excellent, rather than said we’re to busy she re-arranged the tables to get us in 2 hours before we booked. We had the prawns and pate to start, the roast pork and beef for mains and a Eton mess for dessert. Everything was excellent and tasty, we eat out regularly most sundays and this was the best roast we’ve had in a while. Will definitely be returning.

We popped in for lunch and shared tempura prawns with sweet chilli dipping sauce and garlic mayo- superb. This was followed by a very generous gammon steak with egg and fries, and a pork steak dish with a tomato ragu. Both yery tasty! Service was excellent. Quite a few wines available by the carafe which is such a good idea.

The meal and service were very good. The starter although not overly large was extremely tasty and well presented. The main meal, beef for one and chicken for two, very good. It appears to be the trend for vegetables, especially greens, to be served very nearly raw. Personally I do not enjoy vegetables in such a a way. Overall, a pleasant experience which we will repeat

We had the most wonderful lunch at this gorgeous pub. My Sunday roast was the best pub roast I have ever had! Lots of fresh vegetables & perfectly cooked roasties! The others had the burger which was cooked to perfection & the green side salads were really fresh. The staff were friendly & all the Covid measures were in place. Highly recommend!

I visited the Crown Inn on 19/06/2022 for a Sunday lunch with two other people, we all decided to have the roast beef. The food was excellent, plenty of roast beef and various vegetables and roast potatoes. The service was very good and the staff were very polite
