Conveniently positioned on the quayside with nice view of river and port. Handy for meeting with friends for coffee or lunch. Prices are ok but certainly not cheap.
Wandered around Blyth and didn’t see anywhere very appealing so ate at the hotel. Usual pub food plus a few dishes of their own and quite an extensive menu. Fairly busy on Friday night so best to book - I guess lots of non-hotel guests...use this place too. Food good, plentiful portions and good service throughoutMore
We ate here when we stayed for a couple of nights. Not hopeful due to the mixed reviews. How surprised we were! Prices to us were very reasonable. Eg we would pay £13 for pizza and £5 per pint of beer and that's the Midlands!...I think locals have been very harsh about the prices. Everything has gone up. Food was hot, tasty and plentiful. My mixed seafood starter was huge! Staff very welcoming. We would recommend definitely for a pub meal.More
This is a nice environment, nice and clean. I ordered light bite scampi and chips, scampi was over cooked the chips were nice, my husband ordered a baguette with pork, the baguette was too crusty the pork had too much slavery fat on, the chips...were fine. Unfortunately won't be back.More
Breakfast & evening meal & snacks in afternoon . Lots cocktail . Perfect central place with great friendly staff & clean well look after hotel .
Very disappointing as no gluten free option unfortunately very little help when asked re gluten free option was handed a list of all dishes that contained gluten then no help walked out will not ever return If you require gluten free menu’s avoid this establishment
Fab breakfast with large choice . Delivered to your table with cooked hot food & a bar for all help your self extras . Pastry’s jams cereal fruit list goes on . Stopped here many a time evening meal great to good menu .
Handy location to eat when having a walk along the quayside area or Ridley Park. Nice decor and comfortable seating with good views out to the river. When the weather is good there is also a large outside patio which also has views over the...river. There was not a lot of staff around but those that were there were welcoming and friendly. I went with my grandson, the food was good rather than exceptional. I had Mixed grill (£19) and he had fish and chips (£13), prices where reasonable especially the fish and chips which are now £12 at most chippies for a takeaway and here you get mushy peas and tartare sauce! We finished of with sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, (£5) these were really tasty and portions were good.More
Me and my partner were looking for a new place to call our regular day off place to go to eat and drink as all our other places either closed, changed menu not to our taste, or was over priced due to COVID. So we...decided to give the commissioner out. We had the winter dinner time menu £10 for a main and any drink soft or alcohol. So far so good fairly reasonable price so I had fish and chips she had Yorkshire pudding wrap. Food was great absolutely over the moon we found out place to go. Two days later we returned for evening meal I wanted pheasant she wanted venison. Soon disappointed as none of which were available. So she had chicken tikka massala and I had mixed grill. Wow curry was a massive let down rice over cooked curry cold and felt like and tasted like a bad microwave meal with no taste. Mixed grill was worse, black pudding raw, fried egg so over done I picked it up like a piece of card board it didn't bend, beef was so tough and fatty steak knife could not cut it. They gave me gravy when asked for peppercorn sauce and the sausages looked boiled and anemic. No manager on shift and no offer of replacement meal. Not wanting to be put off as first time was good we went back 2 days later through day and both had winter menu 2 fish and chips and all was good again brilliant so we decided maybe it was a one off. So again 4 days later as we didn't go out on valentine's we decided to take up on the good offer and stay the night for £109 with breakfast Inc and £52 to spend on a meal. I wanted pheasant and she wanted katsu chicken burger. Well as before pheasant was not available so I ordered the mixed grill hoping it would be better. NO NO NO BIG MISTAKE katsu burger sauce delivered cold mixed grill black pudding was raw and beef so burned all the black charcoal off the grill was swimming on my plate I had to rub the steak with my napkins and clean my plate dry. Never again. Thought we would go to the bar to order something different to drink other than beer and cider saw a sign on the bar any 2 cocktails for £10 so looked at menu debated for 5 mins and when I went to order the girl said if you want the offer you have to order two the same you can't pick 2 different drinks I pointed to the sign that said ANY 2 ,ANY 2 she just looked at me and said well the signs wrong so what do you want. I said two ciders please she picked them up by the top of the bottles putting her dirty hands around the rim. I just though we're was the service there knowing we had these other issues. Clearly didn't want to go above and beyond or even offer any good service. Poor attitude to argue with the customer especially when she knew her sign was wrong. Overall Breakfast was good, service was poor, had to ask for a second towel in the room as even though I had a room for two people they only provided 1 towel. Room was good except tea and coffee facilities let down loads of tea and coffee but only 3 milk cartons when it takes 2 per drink and only 1 biscuit I don't get it. Team in there through day seem more friendly than evening. Meals way better through day than evening. Some staff are good excellent service but some I think need a lesson in how to smile and how to deliver good customer service. Please read this and fix the issues and please someone go and check your posters and offers around the hotel they don't match and the all contradict each other. Cocktail menu on bar says ANY 2 FOR £10. poster near breakfast area says winter breaks offer from £99 then near the lift it says winter breaks offer from £89 and yet the venue says different again.More
The Commissioners used to be a good place for for food but not anymore. Breakfast is no longer a buffer any you get charged extortionate prices for pre cooked food that had obviously been sitting hours. AVOID at all cost and go elsewhere
Having stayed at the hotel on moving to the area we have been back for dinner on occasions and just drinks, The food is good and served by friendly staff, the menu is a bit limited and not much choice for vegetarian's
Called in for lunch. It’s a few years since we were in here and it’s very nice and spacious with good seating areas and a nice atmosphere. I had venison pie with mash and green vegetables which was excellent and my wife had a fish...finger sandwich which she rated as okay. The staff were pleasant but the only downside was that we waited over 20 minutes for our order even though they were not that busy.More
Thank you for your feedback. All of our homemade meals are cooked to order which sometimes can come with a small wait. We hope to welcome you back soon.
Enjoyed the food and service was excellent. The surrounding are in a lovely and calm area with folks fishing in the harbour. The area is going through a regeneration process and it looks if it will benefit the town . Well happy with our experience.
Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback, it is always gratefully appreciated. We are delighted you had a great experience with us and look forward to seeing you again soon.
We’ve eaten here on many occasions without issue but the ‘quick lunch’ we’d promised ourselves turned out to be anything but. We’d paid just under £35 for 2 sandwiches, 2 cokes and 1 onion rings, waited ages and were then presented with 2 completely different...orders which we sent back. The guy who took our original order then came out a few minutes later to ‘check’ what we ordered, apologised and told us he would have our sandwiches with us within a few minutes. He did offer a complimentary drink in the interim which we politely refused. When the ‘sandwiches’ arrived they looked like the kitchen had run to the nearest sandwich shop and ordered a ham and cheese, and a tuna mayo, put them on a plate, and stung us for 3 times the cost. The ‘stottie’ buns we were told were not stotties at all, completely dry and weren’t fresh. The quality of the contents was extremely poor and all in all it was a terrible experience of somewhere we visit fairly regularly. By all means have the Sunday Carvery but stay clear of the overpriced poor quality sandwich selection. It felt like we’d been mugged…More
