A lovely log fire welcomed us. A friendly barman said to sit anywhere we wanted, he then took our order. My husband and I had the rump steak and our elderly aunt, who wasn't very hungry asked if she could have a starter as her main meal, this was no problem. She had the fish cakes. When the food came... Visited the Fountain Head for an evening meal after reading some great reviews on their website. Great welcome but keep your coats on as the heating or lack of it leaves a lot to be desired. My wife's main course of plaice fillets were so small I seriously wonder if it was legally caught!! The price of £14 was scandalous.... More

We enjoyed our Saturday lunch of Lamb hot pot. It was tasty and warm for such a cold day. The local ale, Branoc, is lovely. We were on our bikes, so no problem with the parking, but I can see it would be a problem when busier. Wifi offered was BT internet at £4 per hour! Forget that, we left

Walked from Beer to Branscombe and intended having lunch at this pub. We were the only one's in the bar area but the barman just stood there when we went in with his arms folded saying nothing. We ordered drinks and then my husband returned to the bar to order our lunch. The barman was taking an order from the... More

Visited recently and enjoyed lunch outside after a walk. All made very welcome with friendly service and even a biscuit for our dog. Parking limited as a lot of local roadworks and unusual but pleasant experience of riders riding horses on bridleway right through middle of terrace!

Came with high expectations as in Sawdays. guide. Food was reasonable but nothing special. The table was sticky and the Ladies ..... So no I wouldn't go back. Wished we'd gone to The Masons Arms.

Great pub great food and just what a pub should be . No attempt to modernise has ever been made to this great traditional pub . The food is homemade and massive portions . Without doubt one of only few and true English pubs

Some friends and I decided to make our monthly get together venue for lunch The Fountain Head. Without wishing to sound overly 'beer keen' we tried all three ales on offer from the local brewery before sitting down to lunch. It was a Tuesday in October. We had been dropped off by one of the 'wives' as other transportation methods... More

A lovely mid point stop off on our walk from Weston to Branscombe mouth. A delicious god and chips with a pint of locally brewed ale. All three on fraught were local in fact! Lots of other walkers present with friendly staff showing themselves happy and attentive.

Walked along the coast from Weston and stopped off at The Fountain Head for lunch before continuing the hike to Branscombe Mouth. I had the ham ploughmans which came with plenty of thick ham, salad, pickles and a hunk of bread. My wonderful boyfriend had fish and chips which he said was delicious, along with a pint of the pub's... More
