Great view on upstairs veranda... Owner/ chef hands in. Fantastic tapas mussels and calamari etc. Excellent taste, large servings and value and awesome wine by the glass. Went back every day! A true gem.

We stayed locally in a beach house, a short walk to Whales Way restaurant, the reviews I read were average and even rated a 3 star standard, I wasn't expecting great things but seriously - the food was absolutely delicious! My partner and I ate up on the mezzanine level at the Sand bar for tappa's we had the 5... More

Surprisingly good menu both food and wine, with cute cocktail bar upstairs. We had two delicious and generous mains with wine for under $100. One of us is vegetarian and the mushroom dish was superb, as was the fish.

Right from the start it was evident that this was a quality restaurant. We were lucky that we were on the island towards the end of the week when it was open. For starters we had breads, and they were really fresh and well presented. The fish I had for a main course was worthy of Masterchef. Very nice to... More

This would have to be the best restaurant on Stradbroke Island - we had tapas at the upstairs bar which are very very tasty and excellent value for money! The bar is very small, and we were surprised by this, but as we came early 5ish there was plenty of space for both our families. The outlook is quite nice,... More

We enjoyed a lovely uncrowded lunch here with good food. The only issue was my daughter ordered spaghetti Bolognese and only spaghetti arrived. When questioned we were told there was no Bolognese but it had not been passed on to the staff. We asked for another meal and this came quickly. We did have to ask not to be charged... More

My husband and I dined here on Wednesday for his birthday, we had beautiful meals with great friendly service from all staff. Good value cocktails upstairs at the sunset bar, beautiful view! The food was so good I immediately changed my plans for my husbands 50th birthday celebration to Whales Way. We took our whole family of 21 back on... More

Had dinner here with wife. Very satisfying meals and service. We both had the sirloin steak as a main. I couldn't fault mine, steak was awesome and the sides were a perfect match. Quiet peaceful vibe of the restaurant suitably added to the atmosphere. $115 for two drinks, two mains and one dessert. Only a few dollars more than the... More

Absolutely beautiful place, great views, yummy cocktails, friendly staff & hands down the best food on Straddie. Cooked to perfection by chefs, not cooks!!! If you want fine dining without the exorbitant price tag, this is your place. Loved it.
