Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth the trip to Southend alone. Quirky traditional tearoom serving honest homemade food. Excellent soups and super filled sandwiches with glorious cakes and desserts. See picture, and this was a half portion! Super value for money and friendly service. Currently closed on Mondays and Tuesdays...for the winterMore

As other reviewers have already said, this is one place that you should not pass by. First of all as you enter the place, it has the appearance of a small village store. But wait, there is more. Turn to your right and enter the...tea room itself, sit yourself down, and get ready for a massive foodie treat. (I have to say at this point, when my friends and I went, the lady taking orders was on her own, and very apologetic that things might take a little longer). But, everything was done in good time, the coffees and teas arrived first, followed by three huge portions of macaroni cheese, with chips of course. We even got an extra portion of chips as the lady wanted to make amends for the very slight delay. (In her own words, she was flying solo that day). Well, we stuffed down the main courses, and then we were told about the huge cake selection. (We had already seen the size of the meringues, being eaten by a nearby group of people, and decided that as they were the size of a football, we would plump for something less filling). Well, the slices of cake arrived, and these were the size of aircraft wheel chocks. Absolutely massive, but not only massive, but very tasty indeed. Again, when we came to pay, the lady was apologetic about the time it took to get our food, but to be honest, it wasn't long at all. Top marks to her for doing so well. If you are ever in the area, visiting the nearby St Columba's footprint, or nearby chapel grounds, you must, must MUST visit this place. The service we received from the lady who was rushed off her feet was impeccable. Will we be back, too right we will. By the way, make sure your tums are ready for a great feast when you go in. Oh, and when we went, it was CASH only, which was fine by me as I think that is still the best way. (And it wasn't me who paid the bill anyway).More

If I could give Muneroy more than five stars, I would. If you're in Southend, don't pass this by. If you're not in Southend, get in the car and go there now. You'll marvel at the huge selection of cakes, then take a minute (or...several) to decide on which one to order. No worries, however - they're all delicious!More

Visited the Muneroy on a wet, miserable and windy day while up in Kintyre on holiday. Very welcoming, reserved a table for us as we brought our dog along. Quite old fashioned in their approach, and all the better for it! It's like sitting in...your gran's parlour! Loved it! Cake and scone were very good indeed as were the coffee and hot chocolate. Nice place for a coffee break on a really miserable day.More

Our annual visit to Kintyre wouldn't be the same without tea and cake at Muneroy. This is 5 star plus plus!! Forget Betty's or the Ritz, Muneroy is the best, ever. Can't wait to come back again next year.

A really excellent place to eat with a classic aesthetic and a cosy feeling throughout. Food is scrumptious and goes down quickly and of course the cakes are great. My one nitpick is the need to move to direct debit and card machines as they...only do cash which can be annoying and tricky for those who don’t carry cash.More

The homemade cakes here are amazing. The choice is vast as is the portion sizes! Highly recommend the meringues. A lovely bay with sandy beach just down the road to walk the calories off. You can see Ireland just over the water. A great area...and eating establishment to visit and not far from beautiful Machrihanish.More

The staff attention to detail was simply incredible as the cake list was the staff. The cake came out & was packed with flavour. I definitely suggest Muneroy Stores & Tea Rooms & recommend you take cash.

We were recommended this tea room by our hotel owners and WOW.. as a couple of one vegetarian and one gluten free its not easy but it is at the Muneroy..the owners and staff are so welcoming the soups are delicious and the cakes !!...Absolutely devine and such a choice.. the meringues are enormous so be warned .. make sure you go hungry.. we enjoyed it so much we had to go back for a second visit and this time I had a gluten free jam and cream Victoria sponge, which was so light and fluffy.. I can't recommend this tea room enough.. next visit to Kintyre this place will be one of the first places we stop.. can't wait to go back..More

Return visit to Muneroy. Each time has been lovely. The first time we stumbled across the cafe whilst on a cycling tour and ordered a sandwich followed by a cake - we were suprised to learn of the choice of cakes on offer and delighted...when our choices arrived, generous in proportion and full of flavour. In subsequent visits have enjoyed more cakes, exceptionally friendly & helpful service, purchased bits from the store' and chatted about Frances' wonderful Instagram posts Recommend combining a visit with a walk around Dunaverty Bay, visiting the Rock and perhaps walking along the coast to visit the Keil caves & St Columba's steps and then the beach beyond. You may well spot Seals and if you're lucky an Otter.More
