Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s smart, the location is good, the food is very good, the service is excellent, so hard to find fault. However, you feel as though you are in California, not the Caribbean. And it’s expensive. Many rightly sing praises; it just was not the atmosphere...for me on a Caribbean holiday.More

I was fortunate enough to be in Barbados for my 50th birthday celebrations. There could only be one place for my birthday evening meal - The Cliff. It certainly lived up to our expectations. From our very first greeting when we arrived earlier than planned...to the end of the meal, all staff members were amazing - especially Narissa who was very generous with her time and made my wife and I feel so welcome. We will definitely return when we are next in Barbados!More

For us, our evening had it all - fantastic setting, wonderful lighting and music, great service and sensational food. We found the staff knowledgeable and friendly without being overbearing and efficient, and the refurbishment is of fantastic standard. We previously visited about 6 years ago,...and this return visit was lightyears better than then - and it was good before!More

OK so it’s not cheap. Barbados has everything, so you can find cheap if you want it. If you want a fantastic view, class decor, lovely food and (best of all ) very friendly and professional staff dedicated to giving you a good time you...can’t do any better. Although Tides is good too. If you get served by Ihsan and Junior is your sommelier , then you will have a great time.More

A fantastic experience. Amazing staff and really lovely food. Yes it’s expensive, but given what you pay elsewhere on the Island, we didn’t mind one bit. Ciro runs a world class house and Matt knows how to cook!

My wife and I returned after 5 years for our wedding anniversary. We couldn’t believe the amazing changes and superb refurbishment of an iconic restaurant. As you walk down the long marble steps past the kitchens which have glass panels you could see the staff...preparing the meals. There was an abundance of staff in the most elegant of uniforms and had a seat looking over the waves rolling over the sandy beach. As for the food, my wife and I were not disappointed and service was first class. The refurbishment included a sister restaurant on the same site which has undergone a major refurbishment, a review to follow. We were also advised that they also own Tides in Holetown which has always been an excellent restaurant. Hope to come back sooner than 5 years.More

We visited The Cliff last night the first time back there in a number of years and was totally blown away by the amazing refurb it’s had it was breath taking. We had dinner which was absolutely delicious we couldn’t fault any of the dishes....The staff where all outstanding from the chefs/ kitchen staff who greeted us from the open kitchen on arrival and departure to the lovely waiting staff the whole experience was a joy it certainly made our wedding anniversary celebration. I guess my only disappointment was our table position which was in-front of a busy kitchen door, we would have liked to have been further round and as the restaurant wasn’t busy could have happened but again we still had a lovely evening Thank you.More

From the second you walk through the passage way it is like walking into secret adult Narnia. The big door was opened and we were welcomed by a friendly face and this friendly welcoming atmosphere continued through out our visit. The decor is stunning, amazing...lighting and attention to detail even handbags get a stool to themselves. The sunset views from the bar or terrace are second to none. The drinks were out of this world, The bajan fashioned and rum punch being our favourites. The amuse bouch were delicious but the edible flowers were almost too cute to eat. We had a gorgeous waterside table with a great view of the immaculate little beach aswell as the big tarpon fish in the sea below. The meal was delicious, the service was perfect and we had a night to remember. My Mum treated us for our 25th Anniversary and ALL the staff made us feel like king and queen for the night, super special. We got a beautiful celebratory plate. After dinner we went back up to the bar for after dinner drinks and enjoy the pianist who played our wedding song. We have avoided the cliff due to the high end pricing, feeling the cost for one meal is not justifiable but now having experienced it, I think it is worth every penny. On the downside once you have eaten there every other dinner feels on par with burger king so probably best to save for the last night of your holiday. Thank you to everyone at the cliff for such a memorable special night. xxMore

This place was breathtaking from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. The food was spectacular and the view was breathtaking. I can’t wait to go back. Let’s break it down: Venue and hosting: 5/5 The venue is spectacular. Great spot to see...the sunset whilst you have a drink or dinner. - The interior is lavish and comfortable. - As you enter you’re greeted by the doormen, after this the reception staff and then the bar staff who service will bring you some cocktails and appetisers whilst your table is being set up. A great place for a cocktail! - You’re then led down to your dining table that has outdoor ocean front dining. While on route you’ll be welcomed by the kitchen teams and everyone else on the way. - The staff are friendly and attentive! Food 5/5: - bread selection 5/5- a large selection of breads available. - Frois gras 5/5 - very rich and fatty with pears to cut through - Octopus 5/5 - well cooked - Spec risotto 5/5 - very rich! - Steak 5/5 - cooked and seasoned to perfection - Grilled snapper 5/5 - everything about this was brilliant! - Beef Wellington 5/5 - well made - Cheese cake 5/5 - “best cheese ever” - Crepe Suzette 5/5 - made table side. Great show and great flavour. - Banana soufflé 5/5 - perfect Bet all a great experience for a special occasion. If I’m ever in Barbados again I will definitely be coming here again!More

AMAZING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Be prepared for a truly fine dining experience. This truly sets the standard for fine dining. For all of you have been there before, please note, that the restaurant has new ownership. They stated they have been only open for a...year. The restaurant is elegant. Every detail has carefully thought about and planned and it SHOWS! When you enter the restaurant, there is a beautiful metal art piece. Inside the lobby the hostess are dressed in long draping purple dresses. They look like models, and probably are. Gorgeous. We feel bad, because we were truly underdressed. But it was super hot and we did not realize how fine dining this was. We saw a few locals who were dressed to the nines. They looked great. Every outdoor table overlooks the water. The staff was AMAZING!! Ciro, the general manager, was incredibly generous with his time and gave us a tour of the wine cellar. The wine cellar is all glass and at night lights up yellow. You have two waiters. Sheena and Ishan were unbelievable. Just so nice and kind and willing to chat with you about the island, the restaurant and the food. My napkin inadvertently fell to the ground. I quickly picked it up, but one of the staff saw it happen and quickly took it away and presented me with a new napkin. Each table has a beautiful Moroccan created light box that just adds to the romantic experience. The food did not disappoint. It is an open kitchen which is on full display when leaving the lobby and heading to your table. The kitchen was spotless!! Immaculate. Be prepared. Each person will have to order to a starter and a main. We ended up having 3 dishes each including the dessert. The beef wellington was a STAR!! The meat was one of the best I have ever had. Delicious!! The starters were great. Had a king fish sushi roll which was better than most sushi places here in Los Angeles. The octopus starter was super tender and very nice palate of flavors. The risotto was delicious, probably a bit too big of a portion. Save room for dessert. We had the vanilla soft serve with strawberries. This was not any soft serve. It had all kinds of fun stuff that provided different textures and tastes. Served in a chocolate dipped waffle cone with gold flakes on top. Outstanding. We saw them doing the table side crepes suzette which looked amazing as well. All of this is in addition to the two amuse bouche that they provided and the most extensive and delicious bread cart that I have ever experienced with table ready butter or olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Then the drinks....I selected the Clarified Pina Coloda. Has no idea what to expect. Just a fan of pineapple and coconut. The cream is clarified so that you only have the essence but not the heaviness. Needless to say, we had 3 by the time our dinner was over. An excellent drink, excellently prepared. Thank you, Ciro and Staff!!!More
