This is a lovely pub restaurant, the staff are attentive and efficient, the food is lovely to look at and to eat, it is not ordinary pub food, and it would be a good idea to expect something a bit special. There is plenty of space around each table and a nice atmosphere. Great to have gluten free bread available.... More

We walked along the coastal footpath from Zennor and weren't quite going to make it back for our table - stumbled across this cozy and very welcoming pub. It was busy - good sign! We were just in time for food and had the set menu for lunch which is incredibly reasonable. All local fish/shellfish and meat from Cornwall. Food... More

Amazing food. A fantastic menu. Make sure you save room for pudding! Busy but not crowded. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Muddy boots and dogs very welcome. I will definitely be visiting again.

We missed out eating here last May when we walked the coastal path and had not booked ahead so couldn't be accommodated. It is important to book. Returning on a wet Monday night in February it was also reasonably busy. The food was excellent. The bread is so tasty and the crab macaroni is delicious. My duck main was lovely... More

Thanks so much for your thoughts. A good recommendation to book, as it can mean you have your table when you want it rather than having to wait, but we're always happy to see guests turn up without booking and we'll always try to seat them as quickly as we can. More

This is a first class restaurant. The food is simply excellent. It has a wonderful atmosphere perched on the North Cornish Coast surrounded by ancient field systems dating back to the bronze age. No noisey juke boxes or one arm bandits here, just a peaceful location to enjoy good food, wine and beer

A warm welcome, pleasant environment and stunning food await you at The Gurnard! We were staying don the road in a Landmark Trust self-catering and three of us went to lunch. We were all amazed - the pork belly, the hake and the monkfish were all wonderful - we were a very quiet table of happy munching lunchers! We all... More

That's so good to hear that you loved visiting us, the team will be really happy. They put so much work in to get reactions like this and it makes it all worth it. Do come again when you're next in the area. More

Have been meaning to visit for years and finally got around to it. Booked for a Sunday lunch table in the bar as they welcome well behaved dogs and had a lovely table by the fire reserved. Great buzz in the bar with Families, groups of friends, hikers & dog walkers (with dogs) all mixing in very comfortably. We were... More

It is has an astonishingly ugly color, but is very nice inside. A pub cum restaurant, but more restaurant than anything else. A great selection of wines and some good beers on tap. The food is excellent. I. An recommend the pate and sea food stew (fresh cod on a bed of muscles). The deserts are delicious. I tried the... More

Popped out from St Ives and this is the perfect place for a good lunch. Set out away from anything else this popular with walkers and driving visitors alike. Nice rustic look inside which is very comfortable. Food is varied and interesting - we had a traditional Beef roast and the Pollack on veg. Well cooked with lots of taste.... More

We were staying nearby and had booked a supper as a late birthday treat. The meals were delicious, local real ales scrummy and atmosphere friendly. Popular with other dog owners.

The Gurnards Head is a fabulous old inn looking out to the Atlantic, round the corner from the farming hamlet of Treen. Just 500 yards from the dramatic coastline, isolated, but within 15 minutes of Penzance and St Ives, this handsome hideout ticks every conceivable box. The sunshine is brought inside in the brightly decorated, comfortable dining room serving fresh, unbeatably good food from a menu that changes according to the catch of the day. Though the emphasis is on ease and honest enjoyment, theres nothing relaxed about the quality and attention to detail given to the food, drink and service. Lunch is chosen from a chalk board, while the evening introduces the la carte which usually features local steak and hazelnut-crusted Megrim Sole. The best seats are the window ones overlooking the fields and ocean beyond.
