Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Regularly stay at HPB Duloe down the road, and we often visit The Plough. The food was great last year under the new owners, but this year the food was very disappointing, the staff were rude and we were even told to take a photo...of the specials board when we ask about the specials.More

We were staying nearby on holiday, and looking for a dog friendly pub/ restaurant that served good fresh and local food. We came across this pub from lots of researching, and were incredibly impressed with all aspects of the dinner. The food was fresh and...tasty, and the atmosphere was lovely. All staff were incredibly friendly, professional and helpful, and they even spoilt our dog too. The selection of local drinks was also great. I would happily travel here again, for brilliant and tasty food.More

We had a fantastic meal at the Plough last week. There was an excellent menu choice and the food, service and attention to detail were all superb - they even gave us a blanket for our dog to lie on. There was a lovely ambiance...and we had a really enjoyable evening. Mark and Mel have brought the Plough back to life again and restored it to it's former glory. Long may they continueMore

We are blessed to have this award winning gastro pub on our doorstep. Our latest gastronomic adventure was a whole Halibut. This was served to our table with a seafood veloute, perfectly cooked and crunchy leeks, cavelonero and duchesse potatoes. It was Amazing! If you...have yet to make it to the Plough, or you go ( as often as we do!) Whole fish, served to the table maybe abit of an inside secret. But: Subject to availability, think day boat, think weather right? Mark, the Chef Patron will always do his very best to give you the same experience. All it takes is a call from you to begin the best dinner you will ever have in this little corner of Cornwall. So happy to share this secret but dont tell everyone!More

Landlady rude! On arrival she told us we were late (6 minutes), not hello nice to meet you all are you all having a lovely holiday!! There were 8 of us and they sold out of 4 meals on the menu, we were there at...7pm so you’d think they wouldn’t have sold out of things…… Anyway the food was good so we left a £40 tip then we were told we shouldn’t have had 4 dogs with us as they had a rule of 3 !!!! OMG the dogs were so well behaved & we were the only table in the back room, why on earth did she feel the need to say something………. So we won’t be going back 😡More

Really nice food very well prepared, very nice venue. Eight of us visited on Friday 16th. We ordered a variety of main course dishes that all arrived at the same time and very nicely prepared. The food was excellent. We also ordered from the pudding...menu and the timing and quality were just as good. We would have gone back before our return home but the restaurant does not open during the early part of the weekMore

The staff and owner were very friendly. Good choices on the menu. We both had the sole from the specials board and it was excellent. The desserts were good too.

We were welcomed to this lovely pub and enjoyed a nice dinner. The service was very good with a charming landlady. Every body made our Golden Retriever very welcome so all in all, we would return if in the area.

To set the record straight from the start, we have been here a number of times and have followed the owners from their previous restaurant to this much awaited one, however if something isn’t right we are more than happy to say so. I also...keep an eye on reviews of restaurants we like before we go, as you never know when things will change. From recent reviews it appeared there may be issues, however if you are used to reading in between the lines we were not too concerned. On arrival the customer service was (as normal) outstanding. Maybe that was because we are ‘regulars’, but watching the door from the table everyone was treated the same as they came in and that was of a high standard. I’m not sure what more you could want from a front of house team?! Then the kitchen and the food (the main event), well that was also without fault! The food was hot, tasty and exactly as it was described AND we were with fussy eaters who hadn’t been before. They can’t wait to go back again! Try it yourself and find out but don’t be out off by a family clearly looking to disrupt a good business and a good meal for you! I wouldn’t keep going back to eat in a place that is poor, where is the sense in that?! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!More

On arrival, found only roasts & one main on offer, apart for a veggie/vegan offer. Roasts were plentiful but the fish & chips was oily & lacked flavour. What I really disliked was the owners manner. My mother was confused, dementia, & the owner responded...to any queries from her in a rather loud & patronising way, whilst winking at me she'd got this. I ordered an aperol spritz. She seemed utterly confused by what this was, loudly. I pointed it out on the menu & my accent was then mocked as being the reason she misunderstood. Can a regional accent really confuse a drink to that extent? There were too many instances of this woman being passive aggressive. Furiously cleaning tables while telling customers to relax, doesn't work. Not a place I'd go again.More

Best pub in the area by far!! We had a lovely family meal here, the staff were all lovely and the food was AMAZING!! We had a couple of curries which we would definitely recommend, as they weren’t blow your head off hot but did...have a slight kick (perfect for us!). The fish and chips and steak were cooked perfectly too! (Well done to the chef and lads in the kitchen). The girls serving were lovely and everyone treated us amazingly, including our dog who was given treats and definitely gives his paw of approval! (Pictured) Would 100% recommend!More

This lovely spot is well-attended by locals so booking is a must. Fresh food and helpful, efficient staff make it a relaxing place to unwind and eat. We had scallops and chicken for starters - both fresh and well prepared, Fish and chips for both...of us on the night! The portion was generous and freshly fried. Loved the chips and peas on the side too. Sadly we had no room this time for dessert - but next time, definitely! We also enjoyed a glass of wine from the Knightor Winery.More
