What a wonderful find! Cold day and a real fire..so inviting. Excellent service and delicious food. We had the £20 lunch menu, both of us having a starter and a main. Excellent value.
The restaurant was empty but we waited 45 minutes for our food to come out! We then ordered dessert which again took a very long time to come out. No one came up to us to check on us throughout the evening. We waited for...a good 20 minutes for Someone to take our payment of our bill. As No one came so we gave the payment to a member of staff standing by the till and as we walked out, a member of the staff shouted across the pub that we hadn’t paid. He was actually very rude towards us. It would appear the staff were having a good chat with each other behind throughout the evening. It’s such a shame the pub use to be so lovely but this time the staff really ruined our experience and I don’t think we will be returningMore
This place could potentially be excellent and, indeed, some people clearly think it is, but I don't. I think the management could do with looking again at it, and getting a tighter grip. Went in twice for a beer. First time I was slightly put...off by how dark it inside was but a friendly barman made it all seem OK and I stayed for 3 pints of bitter which tasted good. Looked at the menu with a view to maybe taking my kids to eat there but it was too narrow to satisfy 3 fussy kids with their own favourites. Left intending to go back. 1-2 weeks later went in again for a beer. Slightly put off again by how dark it was inside. Very put off by unfriendly dismissive barmaid. Had 1 pint of bitter which was clearly on the verge of going off - just about drinkable so I drank it. Didn't dare raise the issue with the barmaid. Left after 1 pint. As I walked past the kitchen I hear 1 member of kitchen staff yelling at another "F-it. F-off". Decided to give it miss for1 year or so by which time it will probably be under new management yet again.More
This is a regular spot that we always visit when staying with family in Winkfield. Whether it's quiet or busy, the staff consistently deliver great service and great food. The meals are always delivered swiftly and are cooked as they should. Proper pub grub. So...happy to have no alcohol beer on draught. Dogs are always welcomed with a treat and a belly rub. Keep up the great work!More
What a treat! We came here as two families of four last minute when we had our stay at legoland as the food onsite was less than appealing. Food at the old Hatchet was delicious, the rack of ribs were huge, Great kids selections too,...not just deep fried nuggets ect, portion sizes are good value for money. They also have a great looking Gluten free menu. Staff were lovely and friendly nothing seemed too much trouble really pleasant atmosphere and a nice looking outdoor areaMore
We were recommended this pub for Sunday lunch. A warm welcome from the guy behind the bar who showed us to our sticky table. Lunch was average at best, soggy Yorkshire pudding and the two veg were: savoy cabbage and red cabbage, seriously two types...of cabbage and no other veg. Dessert was OK and overall service was efficient but not very professional.More
This was our favourite pub but has now become a pub grub place…we were so disappointed and food wasn’t good…such a shame Now see it’s become a live music pub!
Best pub in 2 weeks of travel in UK. SUPER STAFF...and great beer and food. Just loved the place, but we have to return to Montreal.
We were staying at a nearby hotel whilst visiting Legoland and wanted to have a traditional pub meal. I easily made a booking online and was delighted to see such a quaint well kept pub on arrival. Staff were lovely and the young man who...greeted us was delightful. Menu was varied and we were pleased to see lots of non traditional choices as well as the usual favourites. I had a delicious sweet potato and red onion tart which appeared homemade. My husband had the buffalo chicken burger which he said was one of the best he's ever had. The kids meals were large in size and were polished off.More
Popped in here for Ribs and a pint yesterday. Not that busy as it was a Wednesday, so we had our pick of the tables. We wanted the Wings, which are a Weds special, but think they are usually only for evening service, but they...agreed to do some for us which was good of them. Highly recommend the spicy BBQ sauce covered wings (there is a list of about 15 different options of different 'heat', and for £9.99 you get a decent plate full of them. These were delicious, and I am definitely tempted to come back and try different flavours. Staff were friendly and welcoming, decent beers on tap including a couple of Beavertown options, so there really is nothing to complain about!!More
Upon arrival half the group were already sat (in the dark). I saw that My mum was trying to read the menu by the torch on her phone. She asked the waiter if she could have more light and he sarcastically said do you want...another torch. We then asked a waitress if we could have a candle for more lighting. She said I will ask my manager. We overheard the manager shouting at her saying no. We then saw waitress serving another table and asked her again. As she never came back to us. She went off and got the manager to come to us. He huffed and puffed and said no we couldn’t have a candle. We explained that it’s very dark in here. His attitude was disgusting then turned the room lighting up very unwillingly. We apologised to family on next table and they said they couldn’t see anything either so don’t apologise. We then ordered the meals with my son asking what was the soup of the day. The sarcastic waiter replied saying let’s keep it a mystery. Waiting time for food was good and food was ok but we all felt let down by the staff. We ordered more drinks through the waitress and the sarcastic waiter bought them over but took mine and my sons drink back saying the waitress had got them wrong he returned with two drinks we never ordered. He walked away shaking his head and muttering something. He then came back with correct drinks saying they will be took off the bill. Mains came out for 6 of us but no main for my dad. (He only ordered the salad). So he waited whilst we ate. 5 minutes later salad comes out with feeble apology. That didn’t come off the bill tho. When bill came they added the optional 12.5% service charge. What a joke. My elderly mother paid for all meals and didn’t realise charge was on there. Didn’t think they would have dared put it on after Terrible service (so my fault for not checking). I then saw my mother giving the waitress £10 tip as soon as her back was turned the waitresses all started giggling obviously as they had just taken £20 service charge too. Wouldn’t recommend this place although food ok service is appalling. Very rudeMore
Visited twice in week for Valentines and for Sunday lunch. Food good, service good, can get a little chaotic around bar when drinkers and diners cross over. Valentines meal good and efficiently served. Sunday lunch good, slight delay between starter and mains but was not...in a rush. Staff friendly and helpful. Would visit again. The fact that we visited twice in a week is an endorsement in itself.More
Lovely pub with lots of character. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend, and we'd go back when we're this way again.
We popped in early on a Wednesday evening and we’re very pleased with our meal. The service was very good and friendly. I had a chicken, ham and leek pie, my husband had the steak. Both meals were very tasty and well presented. We each...had a glass of wine, both were very nice. Overall an excellent experience.More
