Had a lovely lunch at the Bell Inn. The burger was delicious. The chef clearly knows how to grill! The service was brilliant. Our very hot dog got star treatment - lots of water and plenary of shade in the lovely hop garden. The beer...More

Eating out on a Monday evening can be tricky, so I phoned The Bell to check that they were serving food. The answerphone was on, but the call was picked up while the message was playing. A very cheerful voice assured me that yes, there...More

these guys, this fish barbecue thing - the best ever - we travel all over the uk for work and will engineer any excuse to get back to the Bell. Wonderful, awesome food xxx (and a glorious pub, great people and superb music nights)

Friendly staff, great range of beers and Aspal cider. Really good, homemade soup for lunch which was very tasty. Will be back.

We visited on a Saturday night and while it was quiet when we arrived they were struggling for space by the end and it was easy to see why. The pub itself was lovely and quirky with lots of little details that gave it real...More

No problem accomodating ten elderly Blokes and delivering a super dinner. Food very good and very reasonably priced. Super range of beers which went down well after a visit to the castle close by. Friendly and helpful staff dealt with us quickly and patiently. Will...More

My son botched up his 23rd birthday on Day 2 of the new year and so fancied something that didn’t make involve Turkey, stuffing or sprouts. He did however fancy a 30-minute drive to the Bell Inn at Castle Hedingham as he fancied one of...More

Google maps says 63 miles from central London, that takes around 1 hour 35 minutes. The pub is in a rural location and you can probably dismiss any thought of using public transport to get there. A train from London would... More

Sorry no, the pub does not do accommodation, but should you visit the pub, then dogs are welcome; although the pub has dogs of their own.

This former coaching inn is located in the beautiful and historic village of Castle Hedingham. The Bell is an unpretentious country pub which has been in the same family for over 45 years. Quirky and unspoilt, The Bell offers good gravity fed real ales, honest pub food - locally sourced and with a Turkish twist, and varied entertainment (live music, pub quiz, traditional bar games). Our website and facebook page have further details on what we have to offer.
