Lovely hidden Gem of a pub. Serving a wonderful menu. Very busy so book in advance! Lovely accommodating staff as required a Gluten Free meal. Everything on the menu apart from the pie could be made gluten free. Coeliac UK accredited. There was one gentleman who complained about the meal wait, however it was very easy to see it was very busy in the pub and we didn’t mind waiting. We were told the kitchen were very busy and our meal would be a little later than planned. So I didn’t believe the gentleman’s tone with staff was necessary. Would go again. Lovely.

We popped in for a cheeky Friday lunch and were pleasantly surprised that we were not alone. Great atmosphere, been coming here for years and it hasn’t changed, which is perfect. Two soups (!!) leek and potato and two steak and ale pies. The soup was delicious and the pie had big, melt in the mouth chunks of beef, served with fresh vegetables.....fabulous food and great service. We will be back!

Visited yesterday early evening, was greeted immediately which was very welcoming, was advised that food was still being served, so purchased our drinks and sat down to read menu, good selection of meals including vegetarian. Being Sunday I really wanted a roast and there was a choice of two, opted for the beef, other half chose something else. A very pleasant member of staff took our food order, and returned with water for the table.
Food arrived in reasonable time. I cannot fault my roast at all, beautifully cooked beef, enormous portion, 6 different vegetables plus roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire pud, and lovely gravy, again cooked to perfection. Other half also complemented his food.
Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, will certainly return and recommend to others.

Very welcoming owner/ manager(?) Simon looked after us the whole time we were there from 13:00 to about 15:30. We had a table of eight and all the courses came out at exactly the same time. Most of us started with the prawns which are hot in a delicious salad. I then had the lamb which absolutely heavenly. My wife asked how big the cod and chips was, and Simon very honestly said " I think you'd be better off with a small one" - at £4 cheaper. Not cheap but not very expensive, ( my lamb was the most expensive at £21), and we finished off with Judes ice cream from down the road in Twyford. A memorable meal!

I went with a group of friends for the first time. Easy online booking, beautiful setting and lovely garden with plenty of tables. The food itself was fine however the fish was limited so one of us couldn't gave it and one dish was forgotten when the order came! Nevertheless they rusttled another up fairly quickly. But worst of all were our coffees at the end. On ordering at 9.30 we we're told that the coffee machine was now switched off but not offered anything else until we asked for tea. About 15 mins later we heard coffee orders being taken from another table (landlord friends maybe??). On asking for one coffee ourselves we we're very grudgingly given this which was just rude. So overall pretty unimpressed with the food / drinks side of the service.

Lovely garden spoiled by an hour’s wait for below average food at above average prices. We paid £21 for lamb which was neither tender nor tasty. We were served indifferent steak and ale pie and the veggie couscous was overly cooked and tasteless. I don’t mind paying for good food and prompt service, and this was neither.

Met a good friend at this secluded pub and restaurant, we were warmly greeted and seated, then served perfect real ale, and scrumptious food. What a perfect way to spend a lunchtime. Thanks to Thea who was efficient and friendly. Top Mark to the owners on such a professionally run pub.

Initially had soup to start which was OK and arrived promptly. We then waited an hour and a half for our sandwiches to arrive despite regular prompts to the waiter who kept saying it was on its way. We were served the wrong order and then waited another three quarters of an hour for our order to arrive. In addition to this they had had run out of ham. There were 4 waiting staff around so it didn't seem that they were short staffed, more total disorganisation. The sandwiches were not impressive. Dry bread and limp lettuce. Overall a poor show. Its a shame as this pub has always been a favourite of ours to visit. I think we will stick to just having drinks for now as the garden and location are beautiful.

Great location hidden away in the Hampshire country side. COVID secure and safe. The biggest downside was the wait time on the meal which was never communicated with us not to mention all of our food had turned up cold. The beer isn’t fresh and seems like the lines have not been cleaned in months.

We travelled just 6 miles to eat here and, yes, we had a nice evening.
The inn in beautifully sited in a small village location and a lovely drive to get there.
We had booked a table and was given a nice welcome by staff that seemed a tad under pressure to cope with the many customers eating both inside The Bush Inn and in the garden by a fast flowing beautiful river.
There is nothing really much to find fault here EXCEPT it could be so much better.
The Inn itself is beautifully sited in lovely grounds and by a short walk to a lovely river.
The food is OKish rather clumsily place on the plate with little thought. it is NOT fine dining but rather canteen-ish but could be with some more thought put into the menu and a little more care over the cooking and presentation of the meals.
It seemed strange to us that the 90 minutes we sat at a table by the bar the used glasses kept coming and coming from the tables and sat unwashed on the serving counter until, eventually, one of the staff started to so something about them. Customers should not have to look at 90 or more used glasses.
Would we go back? Probably not for a meal but a drink and nibbles in the garden yes.

After lock down a trip to the pub for lunch was an event.
The food was great, hanging in the garden in the spring sun was rejuvinating and the seamless service and attention from the staff made it a great lunch.
Ricky looked after us. he looked after our dogs. He went the extra mile and helped with a dog/car related challenge.
We look forward to going back soon.

We were a group of 4 for Sunday lunch and felt cold sitting in the restaurant. Very cold wintry day but we didn’t expect to feel cold inside for almost the full duration of our meal. 3 of us ordered fish and chips and waitress offered us a small portion as an option which sounds unusual, but 2 of us weren’t so hungry so said yes to the small option. Waitress then came back to say no small portions left, only standard (therefore full price on menu) and we agreed. However, the standard fish portions were small, so lord knows what small might have been! And the skin was on which was disappointing. The batter was good but desperately needed seasoning as that and the fish were flavourless. Overall a very lacklustre food experience for which we paid far too much money. Staff nice but were too busy for it to be worth mentioning our concerns. We also enquired at time of booking about the feasibility of bringing our labrador as pub advertised as dog friendly, to be told that was fine and we’d be given a table with enough space. However, there is no space for dogs and so we put our dog in the car.

We are just back from lunch, where we had the best pub food we’ve had in years! The lamb and the fish and chips were so tasty, great quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Not only was it all absolutely delicious, the service was exceptional. Fast, and genuinely friendly. The staff were also so careful and meticulous in carrying out COVID safety, sterilising tables, making sure everyone was checking in etc. Can’t recommend enough!

The Bush Inn dates back to the C17th. and it is fabulous that in these difficult times, this is still a quintessential traditional British Pub/
This was my wife's first visit she absolutely loved the place! I was trying to think when I had last been here and could only surmise it had been 40+ years when my father was still alive.
We had booked a table via the website (Very easy!) due to circumstances we found ourselves being an hour early. The staff were very accommodating and had us a lovely table for two by the window overlooking the garden.
My wife ordered Home cooked honey glazed ham, sautéed potatoes, roasted cherry vine tomatoes, fried duck egg & dressed rocket, whilst I ordered Romsey farm beef burger, Comte cheese, smoked streaky bacon, baby gem, tomato relish
on a toasted brioche bun with thin cut fries.
The food arrived within 15-20 minutes, well presented on their plates and perfect temperature. It really was extremely tasty and beyond our expectations.
For desert. we both had the Apple and cinnamon crumble, crème anglaise.
And this too was absolutely to die for! But here is where my only criticism lies. it wasn't big enough! The crumble was light and crunchy, but I would have liked at least double the amount again.
The two young ladies who served us at the bar and table, were exemplary. Polite, prefashionable and courteous.
Unfortunately, I was duty driver, so I didn't get to sample on of my favourite ales (Wadsworth 6X) but I pretty sure that having rediscovered this delightful 17th Century Pub, this won't be our last visit.
