Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My steak & kidney pie was BIG, as the menu stated! Excellent quality, too, with more kidney content than I've enjoyed in years. And the price was very reasonable. Another's fishcakes were also reported as excellent. A guest's steak Wellington was pronounced excellent, although a...little expensive. But my whitebait starter was rather a meagre offering, while tasty enough, and others' starters looked similarly small. One companion's main dish of "fish of the day" was also small, of starter proportions. Sweets, generally, were reported as good and ample. But the cheese & biscuits (not ordered) seemed very pricey at £11? Overall quality and pricing was very acceptable, but one seems to need to know which dishes to order!More

We sadly visited a totally different Hinton Arms to the one we normally visit and are very happy with. Food was poor, three of us had roast beef which was badly over cooked and as tough as old boots, Yorkshire puddings were just a soggy...mush. One of had fish and chips which was ok though. I had stem ginger pudding which was good but with a very meagre portion of custard. Eaton mess was just a bunch of ingredients dumped in a glass with not very nice cream. Service was poor. The pub was extremely busy and the waiting staff were struggling to cope. We did complain but waiting staff not interested. We would not go back again on a Sunday!More

Had lunch with family. I had one of the specials, which was lamb shank, which was beautifully made, with plenty of sauce and a very generous serving of very tasty and high quality new potatoes. My mother had the burger, which she said was a...good size, as well as coming with a generous sides of onion rings and coleslaw. She also said the chips were cooked to perfection. Very good value for the generous portions and excellent quality of food served. Waitress was extremely helpful and attentive and made the visit a very pleasant experience. Lovely seating area with huge garden and lovely views over a field and a play area for children. Also a beautiful selection of hanging baskets all around the outdoor seating.More

We travelled for almost an hour to visit as friends had recommended the pub and we weren't disappointed. Very friendly staff, quick service, excellent pub food and a lovely and relaxed rural atmosphere. We'll definitely be back - and someone has done a lot of...work to create such an impressive display of flowers.More

Just stopped off for a Roast dinner after a long journey home! The Hinton Arms looked a lovely floral country pub choice, however… I chose the top menu choices of Plaice in a cream sauce and my wife went for her craved Sunday Roast unfortunately...she received the thin slithers of processed roast lamb that used to be packaged and served in the 80’s and curling up in its gravy! The rubberised meat was in now way the delicious carved meat you’d expect! The next table we’re equally disappointed with their thin processed beef option! I Challenge that the meat was from a packet and simply heated through which the waitress assured us it wasn’t! We are 65 and remember the packaged processed meat dishes, so we know a good roast which this is definitely not my option of the Plaice was just as disappointing and also had no taste to the fish but very watery in the cream sauce flavour! We definitely will take a wide berth in the future my advice would be if you like a good roast think more about the pubs name as it should maybe be read as; Hint‘drive’on Arms We both agreed a grade of 3 out of ten but hey the choice is yours!More

Four of us called into the Hinton Arms for dinner yesterday evening. As usual the food was truly excellent with a very extensive menu and specials board providing us with a very wide range of options. And the portion size makes the meals excellent value...for money. We have been calling in here for quite a few years and we have never been disappointed. The staff are always very attentive and efficient. And to Amy, thank you for the "Fawlty Towers" moment. It fitted in perfectly with the wonderful day the four of us had. I think we will always remember that moment. Again, thank you.More

It doesn’t get any better than this. Went for a midweek lunch and we were amazed t the range of food and the ample portions. The menu is vast and extremely varied and to add there is a special,s board with many other choices. Liver...and bacon was my choice as there are not many restaurants that offer that in this day and age. Staff very friendly and efficient. There is lots of seating inside and outside and I recommend to book in advance. All in all as good as it gets.More

Took my father for Sunday Lunch and it was just perfect. We sat indoors as we prefer that, but there was a huge outside marquee to sit in if your choose to. The food was excellent, roast beef and roast lamb both tender and generous...portions. The fish pie was also really enjoyed and equally generous in size. The side vegetables were really tasty and full of flavour. We all had pudding, even though we were full, just couldn't resist as there were so many to choose from. Two of us had pies, cherry, apple both delicious, one had strawberries & cream, and one Bailey flavoured profiteroles. Couldn't fault any of them. Even our dog had his own tub of doggy ice cream which was licked clean. Honestly the whole experience was brilliant.More

We ordered king scallops and ribs, I ate one stringy rubbery and strange tasting scallop and sent them back as they were not fresh, the ribs which were £22 were low quality you’d expect from Asda. I’ve since been so sick that my partner called...the restaurant and the male proprietor who refused to give his name was so rude he refused to give his name and hung up - he had no interest in customer service in listening. Just interested in taking peoples money. Total tourist trap and clearly no respect for customersMore

Great country pub which is set in spacious grounds. Lots of car parking and very accommodating for large groups. Decor is traditional English pub. We had pre booked our meal and it was ready 15 mins after we arrived. Very large portions and the roast...beef was excellent. I had a GF carrot cake and coffee - all very nice. Service was good, and what I loved was we were not rushed, we relaxed and enjoyed our time meeting up with family members who live in the area.More
