This was our 3rd visit and every time we come I fall in love with pulpo a bit more. The food is satisfying deliciousness, the staff (special shout out to Patrice for being oh so lovely and efficient and enthusiastic and sparkly and golden, he...literally makes it feel like you’re at a friends house) are excellent. Their patatas bravas are to die for. As are the croquettas. And the garlic prawns. And the padron peppers. And the chocolate mousse with sherry… I could go on. I won’t. But I could.More

What a shame, some good food in a nice atmosphere but spoiled by glitches in the service and overpricing of some items. We ordered a variety of dishes for 4 people and whilst the venison in chocolate was very good, £20 for a less than...remarkable octopus was over the top. The head waiter was attentive at first but soon lost interest in us and others when a couple arrived and he spent his time talking to them instead of watching the room. He had to be reminded by one of the other staff that he hadn't taken our dessert order after quite a long delay. He also annoyed us by offering to get us some bread to soak up the juices from the prawns and then charging £2.50 for 4 small pieces. It is a pity that what could have been a really good experience with nice food was diminished by poor service.More

Food was 5*, possibly the best chicken wings I've EVER had! All the small plates were divine not to mention the fabulous desserts.. Service outstanding, a big shout out to Fran for putting up with our 'noise than normal' table! Pulpa Negro is a jewel...in beautiful Alresford and knocks your average tapas bar out of the park.. Thanks for a great evening looking forward to returning!More

Situated in the pretty Hampshie village of Arlesford. Outstanding food and service in a slighly overcrowded upstairs but more spacious basement. Charming and attentive service from a very knowledgable server. Very cool atmosphere with non disruptive house music in the background. Difficult to pick a...favourite dish as they were all excellent. Perhaps the BBQ octupus which had the texture of lobster, absolutely divine. Excellent value for money. We didn't drink so can't judge the wine list. I'm fortunate to visit many excellent restaurants and this one sits near the very top. We will definitely be back.More

I was treating my husband to a trip on the Watercress Line for his birthday and found this restaurant for lunch in between trips. The food was exquisite and very authentic. We started with the boquerones with some bread and aoili. We lived in Mallorca...and boquerones are a favourite for my husband and they were the best we have tasted, just the right amount of lemon and fresh parsley. We followed up with the Octopus ( a favourite of mine and, again, the best I have ever tasted- recipe please?), gambas, sardines and tomato salad. I have not had sardines like this since I left Spain. Beautifully filleted and the green sauce was so fresh and tasty. The gambas were way better than I expected, far more than a few prawns rolling around in garlic butter that you usually get in this country and in Spain at some restaurants. It was all superb. I asked if they could make a little cake for huzz’s birthday and they made the most delicious chocolate and raspberry cake, complete with candles. My husband suffers from Alzheimer’s which affects his verbal communication and yet the staff were superb with him, friendly, attentive, professional and personable. I could not have asked for more he loved it. Be prepared to feel like a walking garlic clove that has just eaten Christmas dinner after your visit. Thank you Pulpo NegroMore

Very impressed with this. Slick front of house (too slick? Depends on the individual, I guess). Pan con tomate was excellent - lots of spicy olive oil, fresh tomatoes and raw garlic. Jamon Iberico carved fresh from the leg, as it should be. Prawns were...good, but I would have liked some aioli, but hey ho (let’s go). Chorizo was spicy and oily and very tasty. Courgette frittas were solid. Iberico pork ribs were off the scale good! Cheese (Spanish) was very nice - but no explanation offered as to what they were so we had to play a weird Cluedo trying to figure out what they are. Manchego was obvious; a nice goat cheese and then a blue cheese that tasted suspiciously like Roquefort. [Guys - please explain the cheeses - this is minimum effort stuff] Overall, I loved this place. Significantly better experience than some other high end Spanish restaurants in London so worth a five. Enjoy!More

My wife Janet and I had the pleasure of a delicious meal in a restaurant takeover, at Meanwhile in Brighton, by Pulpo Negro last night. What a treat. Every course was just fabulous - from the opener of Vermut with orange Gordal olive via Payoyo...cheese croqueta with pickled walnut purée, pan con tomato, salt cod esquiexada with chickpeas and olives, then marvellous sobrasada glazed Iberico pork ribs - to the marvellous finish of barbecue peach, East India sherry jelly and Catalan almonds. We’ll be making the trip to Winchester to sample Andres’ delicious food again when we can.More

Honestly cannot rave about this restaurant enough! The service was outstanding from the moment we walked in it was friendly, helpful, but unobtrusive. Listen to the staffs recommendations they absolutely know what they are talking about. We started with bread alioi and olives, then chorizo...croquettes and corgette frittas. Both were insanely good and had layers of delicious flavours. Paired with the gorgeous rioja was perfect. Then the Sashi t bone steak oh dear god! I have never tasted anything like it! Melt in the mouth tender and extremely full of flavour. We ordered a green salad and garlic lemon chips to accompany which we shared. We eat out ALOT and I can safely say this is firmly in my top 3 restaurants I have ate in now. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Your passion for your business shows especially when you took the time to explain to us about the beef.More
