A lovely meal, with all 4 of us enjoying our dishes. A compact restaurant, with wall menus, for you to go to order your courses. Waiting staff checking that our meals were to our taste, and whether we required anything, at perfect intervals. The only negative was that there is no carpark, only on road parking - having said that,... More

Eaten here a few times now & always had a good meal. Period Inn with flagged floors, benches & fires. Thornbridge Ales which are OK but not as good as they think they are. The food on this occasion as we were running late was just 2 buffalo burgers, perfectly cooked, quick service as it was packed & good value... More

Four of us booked in for Sunday lunch and were expecting to have a two/three course meal with coffee afterwards in other words a long relaxing Sunday lunch. However when we were shown to our table which was booked for 13:30 to our dismay we noticed it was booked again at 15:00 giving us just 90 minutes for our long... More

When we stay in Bakewell we often like to do a good walk up across the moor, briefly onto the Monsal Trail and off into Little Longstone. We always take a short break here, and always say "We must try the food". This week we did try the food, and we were not disappointed at all. It was a quiet,... More

Excellent locally-sourced food and real ales. When we were there the food included pork belly, beef short rib, rabbit stew and steak (there was also a vegetarian option!). Dog friendly. Would advise booking even if there are just two of you as on a cold January evening this place was packed! Excellent service and a lovely real fire!

A friendly unpretentious pub, with a good range of real ales and a wide-ranging menu based on local produce. Walkers, cyclists, any muddy souls welcome. Worth booking a table.

We had such a lovely lunch after a Sunday stroll across the Monsal trail. The pub though quite small was really warm and inviting and had some lovely smells coming from the food and open fires. The pub was busy but we were well looked after by the staff and it wasn't long before we got a lovely table by... More

We first discovered this fantastic pub after an Internet search to find a real cosy old style English pub to take my mother in law to whilst she was visiting us from France. What a find..it might be a 30 minute drive but this is everything I'd want in my local, such friendly staff and clientele. It's a small cosy... More

Good food and beer beside an open log fire. Walkers and dogs welcome so a great stop when walking or cycling the nearby Monsal trail
