From J Boy of Derby Had the most fantastic lunch in this lovely old country pub in the middle of a beautiful village. The lamb and vegetables were cooked to perfection. Portions so large I won't eat for another week. Very friendly and helpful lady behind the bar. Oh and the pub's dog is also very welcoming to. Roaring log fire... More

Attentive staff, fantastic food at a reasonable price, dog-friendly and a toasty environment with a log fire. Only minor issue is that there was only merlot with regards to red wine. Otherwise, an excellent experience and I have already recommended to friends.

This pub is just what a village local should be. CLEAN WARM AND WELCOMING! The food is yummy with good portions, I had Rabbit Pie even though I was a bit cautious about eating 'thumper' but it was delicious! Unlike the corporate pubs and bars this is a friendly place run by real people who are keen to please and... More

We were a family group of 16 people (all ages) and Kate and her team looked after us with care and skill. The various meals, and over the group we probably tried most of them, were excellent and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended and we will certainly return.

Upon walking in we were greeted by a friendly atmosphere. The fire in the bar area was roaring away making us feel at home. Then followed by the owner behind the bar greeting us with a smile and welcoming us in. We approached the bar ordering drinks then seating ourselves down in which we proceeded on deciding what to eat.... More

We called in for an early evening meal. Despite several 'specials' it turned out that most had 'finished' along with a large part of the menu, despite there only being 4 diners in total. We settled on a burger as we assumed they had stock in the freezer. They arrived as a charred offering, tough and very overcooked. Having waited... More

Had my best meal for years which is praise indeed as I am not a 'foody'. Two lovely vegetarian options, I had the veg risotto - lovely. The sweet menu is amazing, in the end we opted for home made lemon cheese cake and home made sweet lasagne, both were fantastic. All very reasonably priced.
