Since coming to Calgary recently, we have been looking for good vegetarian options. Marathon Ethiopian is definitely worth a try. (It's also a short walk from the Sunnyside Station.) Quick caveats: There is another Ethiopian restaurant, Blue Nile, just a block away, and we have not tried it yet, so cannot compare the two. The service was a little slow,... More

Had it delivered, so disappointed :( I used to live in Ethiopia for 2 years and ate injera and wot on a daily basis. The flavours were off, too salty, not enough texture. Should have tried blue Nile I guess?! I couldn't even finish it. I'm sad.

This meal surpassed all expectations! The food was full of kick and flavour, it was amazing! The actual restaurant could use a bit of cleaning, but the food itself more than made up for it

This was my first time eating Ethiopian food. I found it interesting. I have never had bread like this in my life. It was fantastic! We ordered a meat and a vegetarian combo. Both were incredible. I think we had to get a doggie bag. The portions were huge. Inexpensive place to eat.

This family run restaurant in kensington is the best place I have ever been. The food is beyond delicious and you can tell it is made with such care. The atmosphere is welcoming and the owner always has a smile for you. This is the go to place I bring all my friends and family.

First time visit. Decor is rustic; lots of ethiopian-inspired qualities, including artwork, wall covering and paint. Music at a low volume, so nice background sound. Lighting a bit dim, but not too dark; subdued ambiance. Staff friendly. Ordered combo platter; decent amount of the three meats, each of which was tender and had distinct and pleasant flavours; lentils and peas... More

We ordered a platter for two as takeaway dinner, we got home and the injera was fantastic, it had the right flavours and texture and they rolled it properly so that it stayed moist until we got home. The rest of the food was in tin takeaway containers filled with oil. At first glance it looked like vomit or scraps.... More

This was my first time to Calgary and my boyfriend and I tried two Ethiopian restaurants: Blue Nile and Marathon. My strong preference is Blue Nile. Marathon was OK but the portions are small and the food didn't taste as good as the other Ethiopian restaurant. It wasn't bad.... just not the best.
