My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Miku last night. We ordered the Beef Carpaccio which was a generous size, the edamame which is unremarkable (same as any old sushi place), and the salmon oshi which was just as good as the other reviews said it was. The Ebi fritters, while not on my diet, were scrumptious! Perfectly... More

Miku restaurant offers traditional Japanese flavours using fresh, regional ingredients. The waterfront location offers sensational views of the Burrard Inlet. You can see the menu and reserve on their website. As this was a special occasion I had made reservations well in advance, requesting the Kaisen (six course chef’s tasting menu). Although the restaurant was very busy and a long... More

We chose this restaurant because, though there are many excellent restaurants in Vancouver, it sounded like it might be an interesting choice. We were there the day before Valentine's day and, even at 5:30, it was quite full. They were offering their special menu that day as well and, after much decision making back and forth, we went for the... More

The food quality was excellent! Inventive sushi options and other options. Service was right. Uncomfortable waiting area (they could have a bar or a more inviting ambiance). Dinning room was too dark and very noisy. Modern decoration.

This is an over-the-top, high-end Japanease restaurant, offering probably the best sushi in Vancouver. Very different from other standard sushi restaurants is that it offers aburi styled (i.e. flame seared) sushi. Presentation is fantastic and over-the-top. The waitress was extremely helpful in explaining the items, style of preparation and cooking. Visit their Web site for more info. Their Soba Peperoncino,... More

My husband and I visited Miku as a treat during our honeymoon in Vancouver. Our server was so attentive and helpful so full marks in that respect. We decided to go for the tasting menu, which was delicious but the portions were absolutely huge and in hindsight I wish we had opted for more sushi. The sushi itself was good,... More

Miku is a modern slightly fusion Japanese restaurant. It is modern and not particularly cozy. However, the food is quite excellent. The seaweed salad was delicious (although the tomatoes and avocado seemed out of place). So were the sushi bites (house special) and the traditional nigiri. Particularly notable is the service – the server checked on my food allergies and... More

It is noisy, busy, and big- not my preferred ambiance for sushi, but the oshi sushi is pretty much life altering.

The sushi at Miku will ruin all other sushi for the rest of your life. That is, this sushi is fresh and is plated so artistically that I found myself taking my phone out and taking a photo of my food (which I rarely do!). However, after two orders of sushi, I went ahead and ordered dessert, which was as... More

We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish. Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize. It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
