I have mixed feelings about this place. The atmosphere was publike and comfy except the music was horribly loud. I had the premium oysters, which were delicious, but really, really, really small. My boyfriend had the Jambolya which he liked but was a really small serving for $22.00. I had the appetizer scallops with bacon, which, again, were delicious, but... More

What a great spot for buck a shuck oysters! Chewies offers a local $1 beach oyster and a $2 premium oyster - freshly grated horseradish was a nice bonus! Served with a tray of four different house-made sauces if you like that little extra flavour on top of your glorious one-slurp bite, I ended up with a squeeze of lemon,... More

We were here last year for happy hour and it was so delish. Fresh and excellent service. We returned this year and we're not disappointed

We decided to try chewies for the third time in hopes that possibly the menu had changed for the better, only to finally say we will never be back! The service was horrible, the once very friendly servers were looking bored with no smiles and a different server everytime they came to the table! Our food was as horrible as... More

Chewie's is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. Service is always spot on, servers are fun and friendly and always make you feel at home. Food is always great. Best of all, their happy hour is bang for the buck. 2 for 1 for bottles of wine, buck-a-shuck oysters.

My local friend showed me this place and within a minute I felt like home! The staff is as friendly is it can get, the food is good, the price are fair the Sports TV brings a good atmosphere and the music played reflects the hipster mindset of the local communicaty of this Area. I highly recommend the calamars, the... More

The raw oyster selection is good, oysters are fresh and priced about the same as other Vancouver oyster bars. The atmosphere is too hip for me. And wine is served in water glasses. They will fill it to the top and so you have to slurp it up before you can lift the glass without spilling.

Had the Fried Chicken and the Blackened Halibut with Grits.... and of course a dozen oysters. Food was excellent and the service was friendly in a very laid back, unpretentious atmosphere. We will be back.

Chewies does it's take on Cajun food - the usual favorites. Pricy for the servings but ok tastes. Particularly liked the scallops and house smoked bacon and the fried chicken deserves a mention. Jambalaya was just ok. A busy, popular spot and can be very noisy inside. Luckily we had a patio table streetside. Service was good and good-humored from... More

Was nice and quiet for a Saturday morning breakfast spot. Great food, the Ceasars had quite the kick though.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
