Formerly a tailor shop, the owner converts it into a coffee shop after retirement (really?) and it has been one of the most visited spots on the Drive (commercial Drive aka. Little Italy). To keep it short, great coffee, great vibe, friendly staff. Try their cakes too when you're there.

A very friendly, casual atmosphere with some very good coconut cream pie, unusual in that it's not nearly summer, something you usually have to wait another couple of months for out here!

On "the drive" but quiet and peaceful. Excellent coffees & teas. Sit back, sip and watch the world go by.

Many PhDs have been written here. The cafe overlooks the park, and the mountains. It's quite, and the coffee is good. If you need to spend some time working on something while you travel, or if you need to make your travel plans somewhere with free wifi, I highly recommend this!

Our favourite coffee shop on the drive! Great espressos, delicious jumbo croissants (as well as other baked snacks, teas, etc), super tasty infused water, sweet location beside Commercial park. For anyone who's been to NZ you will appreciate the kiwi-quality coffees made here! We will be back again & again :)

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighbourhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
