We were tired and hungry after a long day of travel. Our hotel recommended this lovely restaurant. Three dining members in our party enjoyed their food. Our other dining partner was unhappy with his choice-hence the 4 rating. My husband and I shared a small antipasto and he ordered the spaghetti with meatballs as did of each of our dining... More

We kicked off our Canadian adventure in Vancouver and in particular at Don Fresco. All in all we had a wonderful dining experience made all the better by the company of our jovial server Francois (sorry if the spelling is off). We found the food to be very nice and presented lovely; the menu a bit constricted; and the price/value... More

A very pleasant dinner. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was marvellous Ina very traditional way. The wine list was extensive, with a broad assortment at every price range. The dinners we had, veal and a lobster linguini, were very good, and the dessert was excellent. We were able to linger quite comfortably for a couple of hours, the... More

We visited on a Thursday evening and sat on the patio. The setting was attractive and our service started promptly. Drinks, appetizers, and salads arrived promptly. Then things went downhill. We waited 30 minutes for our entrees while our waiter served other tables whom had arrived well after us. He only acknowledged once that "our meals were next" and then... More

We have dined here every time we visit Vancouver. This time we were disappointed. We were with a large party … our orders came out at different times … everyone else had to wait 10 minutes until my plate finally arrived! I ordered the breaded veal chops … they were very greasy and not particularly warm. I always order a... More

We chose Francesco's as was an easy walk from our hotel. We were escorted to a lovely window table, nice to people watch. Our server Francois was so much fun and helped us with the very extensive menu. We enjoyed our pasta dishes. Overall a very nice evening at reasonable prices.

We visited Francesco's on a Friday evening. We arrived early (our reservation was for 7:30), but were promptly seated. We sat on the patio which was great for people watching. The servers are professional wait staff. Our server, Miro, from the Czech Republic, was very attentive throughout the meal. The restaurant has a good wine selection, reasonably priced to very... Great location and extensive menu can't change the disappointing reality. This is a tarted up Zolive Garden and not the fine Italian restaurant it purports to be. For that try Cin Cin, Cioppinno's or La Quercia.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
