We booked this restaurant mainly because it is very close to the Chan Centre, where we were to attend a concert after our meal. The restaurant is located in one of the UBC buildings that looks as if it was constructed in the 1950s or 1960s; we did have a view of the water and mountains from the large windows... More

I was visiting the UBC campus and my colleague there recommended Sage Bistro for a lunch venue in contrast to student fast food options. I loved it. Lovely small building, nice view, superb food and a good glass of wine. I especially enjoyed the grilled trumpet mushrooms dish.

The Sage Bistro is housed in the space formerly occupied by the UBC Faculty Club and is located immediate next to the Rose Garden underground parkade. The menu is first rate and the views of Howe Sound and surrounding waters are magnificent. The space is bright and open and the tables are well spaced. There is effectively one sitting per... More

My husband and I were here for the first time as part of a fixe price dinner deal with the Chan Centre. First of all, the restaurant is difficult to find in the dark when you are coming here for dinner. There is very little signage outside the restaurant. Luckily, since it was before a concert, concert staff gave us... More

Sage is considered somewhat upscale, what a disappointment. Squash soup & salad was excellent. Sandwiches were dry and bland, huge buns with meager fillings and even less spread. Pasta was cold and sticky. They should have been embarrassed to serve it. I didn't have a cookie but they looked like something from a greasy mix. I would give them 2... More

The set menu was a nice start to have as dinner before a show at the Chan Centre. It is steps away, across the road from the pay parking parkade and theatre. You have top views of the mountains, it is a bright and airy casual restaurant. Lovely presentation of the dishes with choice of chicken, salmon or vegetarian option... More

This nice bistro used to be the UBC Faculty Club, which we frequented many times in the 1970s and 80s; and it was nice to see the wonderful view again and the building continuing to be used as a restaurant. The Bistro had the same attention to culinary details, nicely presented and delicious food, at reasonable prices, and good professional... More

The Sage bistro had a very nice, bright and airy atmosphere. Beautiful views. The food is very contemporary, local products, nice flavours. Good service, very friendly staff.

We visited on a rainy day in October, 2015. Sage is a short walk from the MoA and was a welcomed break after spending several hours at the MoA. We arrived about 12:45 pm and were left waiting for someone to show us to one of the available tables. Once seated, however, we found the Sage to be a delight.... More
