I visited this restaurant in August. Great location and service. I think that every dish that I tried is fantastic! In my opinion is THE BEST JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD!

The staff and chef tojo make this a night to remember and the omakasi is tailored to your tastes by the chef himself so speak up and share what you want. Good sake and plum wine but be warned...expensive overall. We have great sushi and sashimi all over the world and this will be a higher priced experience for sure

For the first time in a decade I returned to North Americas most acclaimed Japanese restaurant. I was a semi regular at their older smaller location and was curious if it still was turning out the same quality of food that had made Tojos famous with the famous . In a word yes , service food and surroundings were outstanding... More

This restaurant is interested in exacting the maximum amount of money from your pocket in exchange for the smallest average portions of sushi . Service was based on the theory of how many dishes can they bring st the same time to clutter the table so you can leave fast. The quality of the sushi on the limited menu was... More

The sushi (no rolls for us) tonight was great! We knew what we were ordering and were aware of the costs so we were ok with the bill. We flew to Vancouver to have good sushi and that is what we got! Yea

I've been here several times (a few years ago) and loved it, but was extremely disappointed last night. We had the 5 course Omakase menu - it was mediocre at best. Some courses were terrible (very overcooked snapper, etc). There are a dozen better options for Japanese food in Vancouver - don't waste your money here. I felt they were... More

This is my third visit over many years - going back to when Tojo's was in its previous upstairs location. It has consistently blown me away. On this visit, I ordered the five course Omakase menu (roughly translates to 'I put myself in your hands, chef'). Tojo-san still spends six nights a week behind the sushi counter. Every course was... We ate here 20 years ago and was happy to see that it was still around, however, they did change location. You don't have the wonderful views anymore. Chef Tojo was still there busy making sushi in the middle of the restaurant and would interact with diners at the sushi bar. We had the omakase and was not blown away... More

I had dinner here last night with a large group of people and we were extremely well cared for. Furthermore, we had a chef's tasting menu that was delicious and demonstrated the true skill of this chef! I highly recommend this great restaurant!

Really enjoyed it here. It's pretty expensive though, so if you are traveling in budget, try somewhere else. If you are a foodie, you have to come here...

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
