Wishing I could review this restaurant better. It has been here for a long time and it feels like it. Staff are friendly and helpful, but the food is pretty average and NOT cheap. In Kerrisdale you have a lot of choice for Japanese. Lunch specials here still $14-20...good luck and enjoy!

We went out of the way to go to shota on a friends advice. The sushi was good, the lunch special was good value but i wouldn't have called it the best sushi in Vancouver as he did.

Husband & I tried out this spot; don't like sushi. I had tempura shrimp and veggies; very bland. My hubby tried the chicken teriyaki; same experience. Music was repetitive female vocals that made us both want to leave asap. Wouldn't recommend.

My first time at this restaurant. Raw oysters and uni are of top quality. Hamachi kama and softshell crab are both excellent. Various sashimi and rolls are good. Less good is udon and katsu don. Prices are reasonable.

Have been to SHOTA a number of times, as the food is exemplary! The ambiance is very acceptable and the service is very good. The food is fresh and delicious with a vast choice from their menu. I will keep going back again and again!

I've been to Shota about a dozen times over the years and I always look forward to it. The food is very fresh and delicious. It is not comparatively cheap, but when I really want to enjoy my sushi and treat myself, I'll go to Shota. I enjoy everything I've ever eaten on the menu and always have a good... More

We have gone there a number of times and found it very good though a bit pricey, but the last time we went, our server was so eager to get rid of us. I'm afraid I left this review too long so I can't recall all the details but we just got the feeling that we were being rushed. The... More

We have lunch here all the time. We always ofer their lunch special for 12.50$. It's Delish!! Kerrisdale roll, spicy tuna salad and miso soup. We usually get there at 11:45 so we can still get a table. You can try to find free parking but we usually just pay at a meter up the street on 41st. It's a... More

This is a quaint Japanese restaurant located just off the main street of Kerrisdale village. The menu is extremely lengthy providing a wide range of choices for purists of Japanese food and those who prefer western dishes. Food is well presented with accompanying miso soup and salad, and is generally tasty. The problem here is the service. Waiters appear rushed... More

This is our favourite neighbourhood sushi house. The food is authentic and excellent. We also use the take away and are never disappointed.

Staying in Kerrisdale

Neighbourhood Profile
Kerrisdale is Vancouver's laid-back shopping district. In contrast to Robson Street, there is more on offer, at more competitive pricing and a slower pace. Called "The Village" colloquially, over 200 storefronts and one-off shops crowd its streets with products and services. It is set in a comparatively sleepy part of town, with tasteful homes and tree-lined walks. Many of its buildings are listed on the Heritage registry, making it a wonderful place to amble and take in the visual history. Moreover, Kerrisdale's healthy consumer culture is especially apt for those interested in culinary, specialty, or children's shops, boasting more of these than anywhere else, meaning that it's a busy spot for families and hobbyists on the weekends.
