Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a great place for lunch! We had a Tuna Melt which was delicious and unlike any tuna melt we have ever had. It was made with sliced smoked tuna and smashed broccoli. The portion was ample. This is not a fancy restaurant however the...owner and staff are very welcoming and the food is delicious. In warmer weather it would be nice to sit on the patio and watch the world go by. Next time in Victoria we will go back for sure.More

Fishhook quite understandably focuses on sea food, which it presents with a South Asian touch. My friend and I both had the chowder and the Pondicherry, spiced wild seafood koftas with curry and rice. Very tasty and reasonably prices. The restaurant is small, so you...may have to wait for a table. The wait is worth it.More

About the third time in this restaurant and this time it was a disappointment. I had a sandwich with combo squid and shrimp. Both difficult to identify in the mush on the open-faced sandwich. So highly spiced, could hardly tast anything.

We came here for dinner during a weekend in Victoria and were very impressed! We got the catch of the day with squid which was delicious and we were so impressed with the amount of squid you got! We also got the fish and chips...which we commented to didn’t leave the heavy feeling in your stomach some fish and chips do. We also ordered their poutine to split, it was delicious and everything blended together so nicely but we were disappointed to only receive one small piece of fish with it. The service was great all evening.More

We arrived around 4.30 and is a very relaxed open plesant place. I had an on tap Hoyne Pilsner and the Biryani, my wife had the Chwoder to start and then The Daily Khatch. Service was friendly-the food excellent, we will return.

We came here after seeing it mentioned on a Food Blogger's site. It was totally delicious. I got the seafood hot pot stew. Was my favorite dish our whole trip to the Pacific Northwest. No Cioppino or chowder after could compare. The squid and salmon...were so fresh and tender. My family members got the fish n chips and salmon sandwiches. Finished everything. (Skip the poutine fries). Highly recommend. If we had more time we would have returned to try more. The staff/owners are incredibly kind.More

In a three day stay in Victoria we went twice for lunch and once for dinner, just to be able to try different plates from this unique restaurant. We do so wish there were a Fish Hook in Seattle! We are hooked! Every dish is...commendable - a galaxy of stars- five are not enough!More

No way this trip advisor rating is not salted. The food is mediocre on a good day. I have friends that insist on meeting here because it's close by. I would sooner walk 10km in the rain then eat here. What a joke.

Does anyone know where the cook is. This establishment has a 4 star rating but the food is not good to be polite. I have a problem with the credibility of the 4 star rating.

My wife, who has both gluten and dairy issues, had dinner tonight at fishhook restaurant We discovered she could eat virtually every meal they offer She settled on their fish chowder and declared it excellent. I had fish and chips. They offer cod, salmon and...halibut and I chose cod because I prefer it. The plate came with 3 medium sized pieces of cod, fries and slaw. The cod was perfect - really crisp batter but perfectly cooked and tender meat. Bonus? The price was not very reasonable Going back in 2 days!!!More

Fishhook is small but perfectly formed! The food is a fusion of Indian flavours with excellent seafood. Restaurant is small but not cramped. Highly recommended.

Great spot for dinner. Small and unassuming from the outside but friendly service and great tasting fish. I had Katch of the day( halibut) cooked to perfection and served Indian style and my husband had the salmon and squid biryani which was also exquisite

Fishhook is a very modest place in terms of decor. However they more than make up for it with their flavours. * Our dishes were salmon biryani & salmon fish & chips Indian style * Both were packed with flavour. Interesting spicing combinations on the...salmon for both dishes * It is not a huge place & you certainly don't come for classic Indian decor * Service was impeccable & the manager chatted with us for some time * We also chatted with some British tourists and they loved it so much they had come two nights in a row * The menu was really interesting. We could have selected a multiplicity of itemsMore

Innovative fish with some Indian (SE Asian) flair. After ordering at the counter, we found seating on the back patio which is behind some of the local buildings. It's quiet back there, although you could also sit inside or at a couple of tables on...the street. They bring the food to you when its ready. I had some tuna served with a green lentil masala which was very good. ( I might have cooked the tuna a little bit less, but it was good.) This seems an excellent option for a healthy lunch.More

One of my children has severe food allergies, including nuts. We were able to enjoy a delightful meal at Fishhook. Staff is super friendly and approachable. Kitchen is open so you can just ask the chef himself. Good luck!
