We are Whistler locals and were invited to dinner at Caminetto by kind visiting friends. As locals we were frankly embarrassed. The prices are outrageous for the quality and quantity of food served. My husband had the crab cake appie which was very expensive and the presentation of tiny crab cakes on a long rectangular plate was so precious (in... More

The food was very good, but not exceptional. I expected richer flavors. The service was mediocre. The waitress came many times at first to check on our order before we were able to make our decisions, but when we made them, she disappeared.

Italian food has to be a great, comforting and well executed! I missed all that. After a long wait - over 20 minutes after the starters - my risotto was cold and far overcooked. Scallops were good! But it's really hard to ruin those. We also order some pasta that was far below expectations. It is overpriced for the quality.... More

A quick review. Great Italian, food is wonderful service is great I came here twice in 10 days and can safely say both meals topped my 'top 10' list in Whistler. It's a great set up, I will 100% return. Thank you and keep up the great work

Oso bucco and parmesan were good but not the flavors we look for in a fine Italian restaurant. Veal was tender but oso bucco was a little too chewy.

You can tell this is one of Umberto's restaurants by the quality of the food. Pricey but worth it Service isn't quite what I expected. The reception area was overwhelmed by the number of patrons. They were clearly not under control. Even though they had identified our reservation, they seemed to have forgotten to seat us. There were a few... More

Food was pretty good, portion sizes not great and a bit pricey. Service was horrible. First they greeted us at the door with a frown and were order to hand over the jackets and wait at the bar. Then when ordering we were met with about 3 different wait staffs who all took our orders and ended up stuffing up... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant while shopping in the Whistler village and the restaurant we wanted to go to couldn't axcomodate our large party. The wonderful smell as the door opens when the diners exit and enter drew us in and the hostess was very nice and accommodating. The waiter was attentive and the food was pretty authentic. Everything from... More

Umberto Menghi Il Caminetto set the standard for mountain cuisine bringing warmth of Tuscany to mountain life. We had numerous meals at Umberto's over the years and never been disappointed. There is no dish that can not be recommended. As we grew older we gravitate to lighter fare. Our favourite is hearty minestrone soup and pasta pomodoro. Professional and friendly... More

We celebrated New Year's Eve at the restaurant in the bar. We had a delicious dinner. The food was excellent. The bar tenders Bob & Kate are exceptional. Very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed this bar so much it became our first stop for a drink every night we were in Whistler.
