Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a lovely delicious family lunch. 11 of us, 3 were kids, all scraped our plates clean. I really enjoyed a traditional roast beef and yorkshire pudding, so much beef. My daughter had sausage and mash even though it wasn't on the menu, nothing is too much trouble they really are so obliging. Its a good varied menu. Lamb tagine, cod mornay, vegetable strogenoff, vegetable wellington. Lots of yummy home made puddings. Definitely go back.

We used to live in the next town and would often visit this pub for Sunday lunch, we have now moved from the area and miss this place so much that I thought I would write a little review. We would go for Sunday lunch with the kids and other members of our family, the kids loved it as there is a great outside area for them to play and the food is suberb. Fran and the team always made us feel so very very welcome and we never got the chance to say thank you before we moved from the area. The food that is produced was always great, and we have been lucky enough to eat in a number of places and this is the best Sunday lunch around. So thank you and I cant recommend this place enough, definitely worth a visit.

We have been here a few times now, and every time we have found the food to be consistently excellent. Last week my sea bass was hot fresh and crispy, with lovely fresh vegetables, all really well cooked. There is a good menu selection locally sourced where possible. Staff are wonderful, professional and friendly.
Definitely recommended, for families and friends.

We have dined on 2 occasions at this delight village pub. On the second occasion we took 2 friends who confirmed our views of this excellent restaurant.
We were very warmly welcomed and were able to select where we sat.
The host Fran and her staff were very friendly and professional in their approach to us.
The menu is a good blue print of the culinary expertise of the kitchen team with good variety of dishes at reasonable prices.
They were all well presented at appropriate temperatures and good portions and also showing the creative skills of the kitchen and care for the appearance of every dish. We were delighted with all the tastes and textures.
We look forward to returning in the near future.
Thank you.

We met friends here today for lunch. We all chose from a set lunch menu at a very reasonable price. We all decided to choose starters, two of us having Prawn cocktails and the other two, a gorgeous dish of Wild mushrooms with a cognac, garlic and cream sauce. The main courses were equally lovely and all dishes were well presented. It was the second time we have been there and on both occasions the owners have been so friendly. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

We needed to find somewhere to eat while killing time, and came across this gem.
Not a huge extensive menu, but sufficient choice, and everything ordered came perfectly presented and was absolutely delicious, oh and and very generous portions.
Understand that the owners are fairly new, so all the best to them.
We were very impressed with the building, decor, friendly welcome and, most of all, the food.

Phoned and booked a table for two, Wed evening.
Friendly greeting and choice of table. Good choice of Beer and Wine. Nice chat to Mine Host , who then took our order. Very good choice of menu to which we both chose a starter, followed by Ribeye Steak.
We couldn’t have made a better choice, the steak was cooked to perfection and came with all the trimmings and ooh the Stilton sauce!!
Unfortunately we hadn’t left any room for a pudding, but I bet they would have been delicious!
A lovely meal at a reasonable price!
Thank you Paul and Georgia, we will return 🤗

Often mistaken for its namesake at Southwick, this little gem is situated a 5 minutes drive from Oundle.
We originally visited a good few months ago and had Sunday lunch which was excellent i hasten to add however my review has disappeared for some unknown reason.
The pub has a car park to the rear as well as accommodation and a decent rear garden.
Our food was of an excellent standard with our yorkshire puddings being the real star.
The pub has an oldy world feel and reminded me of my frequent visits to my grans house in nearby Kings cliffe many years ago.
An excellent pub with a decent restaurant.
Tip.....Southwick village has a pub with exactly the same name so try not to mix up visits or the reviews afterwards!

After a very warm welcome we were settled into our rooms. OMG they were amazing! Soft bedding, lovely mattress and literally everything we could have asked for. I made a cup of tea (proper teabags), a latte coffee and then worried about myself. I am lactose intolerant so I can’t drink the 3in1 packets usually provided, like the latte I’d just made. Then I saw the Kilner jar of instant coffee!!! All sorted! Just a little thing but so often forgotten! Dinner was lovely and the pub so comfortable. After an amazing night’s sleep and croissants (from the room) we said our goodbye’s and tried to work out how soon we could return. Thank you so much to Georgia and Paul! We willl be back!

Four of us turned up without a booking on Thursday and enquired as to whether they could fit us in. Not only were the staff welcoming but found us a table where the dog (guide dog off duty) could sit out of the way. The meal was lovely - the blade of beef is a must! And the service friendly and helpful. Covid rules are obeyed and there is sanitiser on every table. We will be back!

Myself and my partner came here for a meal and we’re not disappointed. The pub is cosy and welcoming and the food was lovely. The portion sizes were more than generous and everything was very tasty. The landlord was doing front of house and was very friendly and chatty without being too fussy. I’d definitely recommend and wr will certainly be heading back there

I have just phoned to book a table for Sunday lunch and am devastated to hear that the pub and restaurant have closed indefinitely. To Fran and her team that have consistently produced wonderful meals and served it up with a smile - Thank You.
We hope that this is a temporary situation and we can enjoy further happy times at the Shuckburgh Arms.

Hopsitality second to none,we were made to feel extreamly welcome and at home,Georgia and paul are the loveliest couple who cant do enough for you. Bar staff friendly and easy going. Room was very comfortable and clean with a homely cosy feel. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Lovely quiet location only a few minutes drive from the picturesque town of oundle. We will be going back very soon and hope the weather is nice enough to sit in the beer garden with its lovely views.
Georgia and paul deserve to continue to do well in their new venture with the shuckburgh arms. Well wishes Jamie and AJ 😊
