My family went to this restaurant for dinner for the first encounter and we immediately noticed how friendly the staff and the manager/owner were - they made us feel very comfortable with our first interaction. In terms of ambience, like some of the comments on TA, the place is cozy and comfortable and they pride in using locally grown foods,... More

When visiting Guelph to drop our son off at University, we lucked out with a visit to Borealis. As a result of other patrons raving about the fried chicken, my husband ordered two pieces and I made a special request to have one added to my quinoa/arugula salad (request granted!!). It was delicious!!! The salad was also fantastic with just... More

Most menu items are from locals farms and breweries, while there are a few things listed that have come from slightly further. Not quite a fine dining restaurant, but not quite a pub either. It's definitely somewhere in the middle. Some of the food could be considered more on the pub side, but some of it is a bit on... More

Although I had been visiting Guelph for a few years, I had managed to miss out on this place, yet it is the restaurant that everyone always recommends first. Now I can see why. The menu is creative, the food is good and the beer selection supports the local breweries (which are very good in this part of Ontario). We... More

This is a lovely restaurant locally managed and owned, serving delicious and attractive recipes, primarily based on locally available ingredients. We recently took a friend to lunch there, her choice, as a thank you for looking after our home. We had a pleasant lunch, were seated in area where we could chat casually and have a relaxing meal. Everyone was... More

Borealis needs to figure out if it's fine dining or a pub. The staff dress and act like it's fine dining, the decor says fine dining, but the food is pub worthy, even less than that.

This is our go-to place in Guelph, in other words the place we go to most when dining out. The food and beer/wine is mostly local (Ontario map in restaurant shows distance the ingredients or beer/wine comes from) and the menu features good variety without overwhelming the diner. Food tastes great, atmosphere is cozy (wood decor with Tom Thomson prints)... More

Borealis Grille and Bar is located in Guelph (original) and between Cambridge and Kitchener (newest). It is NOT a chain restaurant and it prides itself as being locally owned using locally grown and also Canadian produced food for the most part. Unique menus, great atmosphere, specialty products like venison, Bison, etc. as well as the traditional fare. The Friendly Atmosphere... More

Our second time visiting this restaurant, ask for our previous server and were lucky enough she was working. Blown away by Dora's memory. She not only remembered us but remembered small details from our previous visit. Once again, food did not disappoint and the service was above and beyond.

Thank you nofrills11! It is always so nice to have familiar faces back into the restaurant. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to Dora! There are many new items on the winter menu we just launched, hopefully you were able to try one of those! We hope to see you again soon! Feel free to request... More

went for a family gathering and we had a very quaint private room. The service was excellent and the food was of high quality, everyone seemed satisfied. The salad was well dressed, the turkey burger was very tasty and filling. My wife enjoyed her locally grown burger and the dessert. My sister was pleased with her meal too. We were... More
